Well by the looks of it, the 3 picks that Dubas and Co had in last years' draft all look pretty damn good. Knies off to the Olympics, Voit is looking like one of the premier 2 way talents in the entire OHL and his playmaking abilities are exceptional. Peksa while playing in the MHL behind a ton of decent goalies is looking like he's been having a very good year as well.

Impressive stuff.

2 goals and an assist for Voit. One of the goals was a shorty.
As good as Knies has been, Voit has been marvelous. Voit unfairly got the SDA label when he was drafted. He was simply a much better prospect then him and didn't have the questions like goal scoring and compete level that SDA had.

Douglas scraps former Leaf prospect Jamie Devane and edges him out. Devane is a legitimate super heavyweight.

And shocker, former Leaf prospect Hallander scores.

Kallgren. 3 goals on 21 shots isn't horrible for Marlie standards and he's been a stud the entire season.

Huh, I didn't actually realize Devane was still playing
Hopefully he is alright
Looks like he may have popped something in his face

Still remember one his first Leafs (preseason) games

He may have been signed for a few games as a fill in due to COVID shortages. A neighbor of mine has been retired since COVID started and signed a 3 game AHL contract with a US team since they couldn’t get enough players over the border. Needless to say he was a little gassed by the end of the 3 games.

Devine used to play ASHL in Oakville. Easily the best guy on the ice, what a monster.

Covid, it made the draft a crap shoot
Wonder if there will be similar issues this year.
A good amount of games canceled, no WJs yet, NHL teams cash flow down might limit spending on scouting.
Could be another good year for the Leafs, might make sense to try and pick up a few more mid round picks

looks like we have yet another late rounder under Dubas that has legitimate promise

My God that's impressive. He's WJHC eligible next year as well.

His team is one of the worst in his conference and they set themselves up at the deadline to be much better next season. He could have a massive season next season.

If you can get two players per draft, you’re doing pretty good.
‘21 is tracking that way.
And he’s playing C, ya?

From the few games I've watched of Voit, it looks like he's their #1C but shares duties with Nolan Burke who has better FO%. However, on the PK and in other situations he's played as their #1C, and has absolutely flourished. This kid looks like he just gets better with more pressure and responsibilities and I think he's a much more complete player who uses his vision so much better when he's in the middle than on the wings. If he can hit a little growth spurt and really bulk up and work on his physical strength, I think he has a legitimate shot at being an NHL player.

I honestly thought he had Mitch Marner lite potential when we first drafted him just by seeing some of his highlights and videos and I think Mitch Marner lite is a good comparison for how he plays the game. Smart kid, great effort, loves playing in all situations. Isn't the biggest guy on the ice but he plays pretty fearless and does everything he can to help his team win.

Hopefully next season his team will be better than they are this year and I fully expect him to take off and perhaps end up as a top 5 point scorer in the OHL if he can get the right players and work on his strength and shot more.

Very impressed by Dubas and company to get this kid all the way in the 5th round. I suspect in a few years if we were to do a redraft, he's going to go at least 3 rounds higher.

Thanks, great summary.
It’s cool he’s used in all situations.
And funny, I was going to use your exact same words….but didn’t wanna push it.
And for whatever reason, I was sure he was a right shot. Not sure why.

It takes the sting away from trading last year's 1st for Tomas Plekanec 2.0 (Foligno)
