He looks awful. I was yelling at my TV. Just slowly meandering around the ice. It’s a 5 on 3 and he looks like he’d rather be anywhere else in the worldMinten on the PP... I mean... all that space, and he passes... take the space, and shoot.
Whenever I watch Minten play he just comes off as a guy with zero confidence in his game.
Minten just doesn't seem that good. He has some hype as a guy who made the NHL this year and being named captain, but he doesn't play at an overly high level. He's mostly just there and won't hurt you much
I knew he didn't have elite skill, but I'm seriously questioning if he even has NHL skill. I think we can safely say he will still end up playing in the NHL thanks to his IQ and size, but he's looking more and more like a 4th line defensive specialistHe's definitely more of a cerebral player .. like Tavares but without elite skill. That's his high floor basically, as you describe. His ability to play in the top 9 solely depends on how his offensive game progresses
I was at the Marlies game yesterday and thought he looked like the best player. Still raw but he had the best positioning by far.TOPI his last 10 games is
4G 5A and +10
Adjusting very nicely to North America it seems.
He looks like a second round pickI knew he didn't have elite skill, but I'm seriously questioning if he even has NHL skill. I think we can safely say he will still end up playing in the NHL thanks to his IQ and size, but he's looking more and more like a 4th line defensive specialist
That’s what I thought when he was up with us to start the year. His defensive positioning and poke check are really good but the play would die on his stick every time. I wouldn’t mind a 4th line pure defensive specialist though but I’m also finding it hard to imagine him becoming more than that though the physical tools are thereI knew he didn't have elite skill, but I'm seriously questioning if he even has NHL skill. Problem is the Leafs have already committed 4 years to David Kampf to fill that role as a defense only 4C. I think now would be a good time to sell high on MintenThat’s what I thought when he was up with us to start the year. I am not moving players because of Kampf.Problem is the Leafs have already committed 4 years to David Kampf to fill that role as a defense only 4C. I think now would be a good time to sell high on Minten
I wouldn’t waste a first rounder on him but I’d grab him with a later pick.Owen Allard seems interesting for a player that may be around for our draft pick. LW, 6'2 200lbs already.
When did the prospect thread become the Game Whiner Thread?
1) Your speculation about a teenage boys confidence levels are not criticism, its speculation. Why are you so upset? It’s prospect discussion. Are we only supposed to pump their tires? All fair criticism.
