I was looking at the eliteprospects and noticed SDA was having a good but quiet year.
And someone get Mr. Steeves a chance.

Cowan was a very interesting pick in that the minute he was drafted, tons of people said it was an absolutely horrific pick and a bigtime reach.

Then he instantly crushes it in the prospects camp, shows very well at the main camp, makes team Canada and now leads the OHL in PTS/G.

I would say there's actually many non Leafs fan's that are hoping this pick busts so they can say they were right all along because at the current pace this is trending to be a phenominal pick when such a large group thought it was horrible.

It's even surprising that we have a first round pick that is lighting up the OHL while playing a good all around game and the main thread discussing him is only like 10 pages.

I thought it was a weird pick and we were too obsessed with small and skilled. It turned out a good pick because we may have to let Marner walk. At some point the Leafs need defense and it shows large right now.

I just eyeballed NHLe, while looking at OHL players.

It looks like from my quick excursion to NHLe Calculator - Frozen Tools
that Cowan gets top results for all OHL players?

Anthony Romano, top points in OHL, 82 points in 50 games, comes out to 43.

So Leafs picked the best OHL player at the draft, for points projection, that didn't make the NHL?

Anyone confirm this who might have a subscription there?

Elite has him 6'2", 192lbs.
Left / Right wing, shoots left.

Grebenkin 6'2", 192lb.

Just turned 21, might add muscle, but his height is likely set.

Okay, so he's not a top 5 pick, but even so only 4 players draft 2023 made the jump, only 7 from 2022 are semi regular.

Yeah, so a stretch, but one so badly needed.

Interestingly, the top 3 current players in P/GP in the OHL are all 18 years old that were drafted 26th (Musty), 27th (Ritchie) and 28th (Cowan) in the 2023 draft.

I haven't seen any information as to what happened, but I'd assume he's injured for the season.
