This contract will be why we don’t win a Stanley cup for a very long time. I know he didn’t play well today and got pulled but nothing at all makes me feel comfortable with this contract

If you're going to ask for and get big money, you can't hide from the media when you have a bad game.

Panarin does it too.

Panarin has actually lived up to his contract despite his shit year this year and underwhelming playoffs. Igor has done nothing for this organization.

I didn't think I'd ever hate a player more than Georgiev. But here he is. The only difference is I have to root for this POS till I'm in my mid-40s. f*** you Drury, you weak piece of shit.

Igor has been the best goalie in the playoffs the last 3 years. He’s not the problem. Even tho he hasn’t been good, no one on the team has been good this year

Every game now is the playoffs. And he's Georgiev level bad. Let's stop pretending this POS is clutch. Somehow Igor escaping blame ever might be a more impressive trick than getting that imbecile to sign him for 11.5M.

Well it’s not the playoffs so he doesn’t really have that to hang on right now.

You won’t get an argument from anyone here that he’s been the best playoff goalie over the last 3 years by a long shot. He is reverse Panarin in that regard.

But he isn’t exactly doing his part to get them in. He isn’t the main culprit but if you’re going to make 11.5 million, you sure as f*** better be able to steal more than 2 or 3 games along the way.

The leash is basically zero now with the contract extension and it should be.

The thing that is tough to handle is the lack of consistency. He stands on his head some nights and cant save a beach ball other nights. So the question is chicken or the egg. Is Igor bad because we are bad or vice versa. Probably both at times. He has been very good for his career but this season has been more of a roller coaster. Is it the defense?

I’ve said it before - it’s the yawning gulf between his very best and his very worst that shits me. When he is “on” he’s god-like.

But when he ain’t…….

I mean the games right now are basically playoff games and he looks as bad as Georgiev has ever looked. Considering what an inconsistent goalie he's been most of his regular season career I'd err on the side of the playoffs being a small sample size (compared to the regular season) than some abnormally strong clutch gene. If he had the clutch gene he would be carrying this team into the dance. Instead he's sinking this team.

I know people won't believe me, but I was REALLLLLY hoping we found our Rodgers to Favre, it's a great place to be with the franchise even if he made the 11.5M but earned it. He was also a late round pick and I love the idea team being great at picking HOF goalies late. But unfortunately he ain't it. And if he were making even 8 million dollars a year the rational part of my brain would think maybe it'll click some year with a better team. Hank until the 2011-12 season was not very good in the playoffs and he had the best season of his career and then had his best playoffs' on the back end of his career. Maybe if he made 8 million I would hope that happens with Igor, or we get a good enough team and he'll show his supporters right it WAS the team. But at 11.5M f*** this guy. He has not earned anywhere close to that and took the franchise to the cleaners.

I gave you a love face but I disagree with you, other than a very short first season and his regular season he has ALWAYS been inconsistent. The last two seasons he just forgot how to play in January through March. You couldn't have honestly forgotten, right?

It lives in perpetuity.

They aren't winning with or without him until this structure or culture changes. There's so many issues with this team beyond talent. It's just so bad to watch.

There's been 3 regular seasons since he won the Venzia. In all the last 2 seasons we've had the goalie controversy conversations. In the 1st season, he was either good or bad, and bumped his numbers up by going on a hot streak during the last 12 or so games of his season. Good playoff numbers, won't disagree there, and although he's not "the problem", Igor has definitely been part of the problem.

Is it fair that fans are going to jump down his throat a little bit more after he demanded to be paid the highest? I think it's fair. I think expectations are higher if you want to reset the goalie market acting like you're the top dog. You don't pay the best goalie to make routine, expected saves. You pay the best goalie to bail you out of mistakes. He can't save everything. Nobody expects that. But it's tough to play hockey when you''re down 2 minutes into the game, and some of those have been on him.

I still think he’s one of the best goalies in the league, but this is why you don’t pay him 3M more per season than all of his peers. A totally asinine contract from a completely incompetent GM. Dolan needs to fire Drury before he does more damage to the organization.

Question for our stats gurus….

What is Shesty’s GAA and SVPCT by period this season?
I took a glance at the normal sites I visit and unfortunately those stats aren't tracked there. I didn't find a free site showing it, but I didn't spend that much time looking. You might have to settle for team goals/shots per period, and not directly goalies. But interesting to see that Igor has a .926 save % when getting a 1 day rest between games and it crashes after that. .847 after 3 days, and .886 after 4 days.
