Grebenkin didn't score?Marlies win 4-3. A big win for them. They went 3 for 3 on the PP.
Cavallin 33 saves for his 1st career AHL win.
Niemela 2 assists. Steeves goal and assist. Villeneuve assist
I think his dad just died, he probably won't be playing for a few games as of now.Put Gio on IR for a few games to get some rest (just gesture vaguely at his birth certificate, that should be enough) and give Niemela a few in the big club. Just for curiosity. No pressure.
Ah. My condolences to Gio.I think his dad just died, he probably won't be playing for a few games as of now.
Or Rifai or Kokkonen, low event guys.Put Gio on IR for a few games to get some rest (just gesture vaguely at his birth certificate, that should be enough) and give Niemela a few in the big club. Just for curiosity. No pressure.

And condolences Gio.
Solow sniped a beauty and was immediately cross checked by Kleven. It started a wild scrum with Mastrosimone losing his head. Gaunce and Solow were in there too.
The game is nice and energized going into the 3rd period. The Marlies are up 3-2.
Grebenkin didn't score?
So for those who watch, who is their best D-Man.

Marlies earn an important point in a 3-2 OT loss after being down 2-0 in the third. Tverberg, Villeneuve and Hirvonen with an assist each.

Minten's production is very encouraging. I think it's likely that spending a year with the Marlies to further develop his offensive game at the pro level would be the best option. But what we're seeing this year suggests a 3C role in the future, rather than a 4C that had been considered by some.Minten has taken a massive step statistically.
Last year in 57 games he had 14 goals/32 points outside of the PP
this year so far he's at 15/30 in just 30

Can any regular Marlies watchers comment on Villeneuve’s overall play and deployment?
He’s got the points, height, room to put on a few pounds, handedness, plus player (overall) nearing 100 games in the A.
I don’t recall any major concerns about his skating or mobility, and improved D awareness during his junior days at least.
Any input would be good. Thx.
Nice summary. Thanks. The one thing holding him back is skating agility and mobility to me. It's pretty meh. He's really good at making plays with the puck offensively and making aggressive plays offensively. Defensively I haven't noticed any glaring issues, excels at making zone exits using his playmaking and skill but without the skating it's not as good. He's not overly physical but doesn't shy away from it.
I don't think he took any big strides this year, just seems marginally better than his rookie year. I'd expect him to be call-up material next year at some point, but who knows. I don't think he's done getting better.
I do wonder what will happen with Bobby Mac given his UFA status, but I kinda like that 4th line.Knies Matthews Nylander
Robertson Tavares Marner
Cowan Minten Holmberg
McMann Kampf Steeves
If we go into next year graduating some of our prospects at forward, we could afford to allocate some money on the defense. I see a speedy, tenacious lineup here with a good balance of offense and defense.
