Honestly, given all the missed development time, how much he doesn’t play in game, the utter lack of powerplay time, Robertson having 14 points in 29 isn’t half bad. He has shown some solid glimpses this year of what he can bring. Needs to shoot more though.

He’s out producing Knies with almost none of the opportunity.

Wheeler ranked Hirvonen ahead of Grebyonkin which I definitely don't agree with

I'm not sure I'd want to be flying all over the world and to Russian to scout these players.

Marlies probably a much larger pool of data to fish in, than the KHL.

...

Oh, sure first hand scouting would add some credibility, but it isn't like Treliving is flying over to Russia to scout either.

I would say that they are two different players with different tool boxes.

Knies is actually the muscle on the 1st. line at times, Robertson has to be the scoring as he really doesn't bring much else.

Oh, I definitely agree. Very different players. I just think Robertson has largely played well this year and his reward for it usually is getting healthy scratched more than it is actually being thrown a carrot like some PP time or lining up with better players.

Jarnkrok injury may force Keefe’s hand here though.

Keefe also seems to have beef with him

Robertson is the young core (knies, robby, cowan and minten soon) nylander

Anytime there is a shakeup its him being benched or play time reduced

I dont get it. He hassome serious talent. Give him more chances

Playing himself into World Junior discussions for next season.
He looks to be 2016 Andrew Nielsen

Nielsen was very promising in 2016 and then 2017 Marlies season

Nielsens skating unfortunately and his lack of defensive awareness cost him any chance of being an NHLer

Hopefully Chadwick, keeps up progression and works on his skating. He has a shot to be a very solid player in 2-3 years if he keeps up the hard work.

Him, Tverberg and Moldenhauer look to be sleeper picks. Hopefully 1 of them hits and we should be very happy

Lost last game 6-5 in OT. Petruzzli in net for 19 saves (24 shots).

Abruzzese with 1g,1a.
Niemela with 1a,
Steeves with 1g.

Steeves has to get a look soon I would think. I wonder if a contract for Bellows comes soon.. he'd at least give them a forward in the system that can add a scoring threat to the bottom-six if need be.

Bellows was signed to an AHL contract for the rest of the season.

I had asked one of the Marlies reporters about the possibility of Bellows getting a NHL contract this year, and they felt it was unlikely, but could be in the cards for next year...

My personal comments... we'd need injuries up front for this to happen, as if we didn't put him with the Leafs right away, he'd have to pass through waivers... which we probably don't want to do.

Wheeler :
The Leafs’ pool breaks down into three tiers, including a wide middle tier which is a sign of their decent depth and also the lack of top-end talents to divide the top of the pool into smaller tiers. Those tiers are: 1-4, 5-13, 14+.

I wonder how often a GM looks at their prospect pool and sees if another GM with a different strength/weakness will make a swap. In the end, it likely doesn't happen cause GMs just want to keep their guys.

But as an armchair GM, I'd want to look around the league and see if there's a team that wants more forward depth with some defensive depth to give. I don't think Cowan for insert top D prospect would ever happen, that's really a case of where you want to go with your guy. But for example, Hirvonen and Moldenhauer for 2 similarly ranked defence prospects.

I can't see why not. Makes sense to make trades from a position of a surplus. Like when Nashville traded Jones for Johnasen. Nashville is an absolute D factory but always lacks offense. Was just too bad for them that Johansen didn't come as advertised.
