Scott Wheeler at the Athletic is ranking the prospect sets of all NHL teams. So far he's gotten to #30, which was Boston. Any predictions for where the Leafs land? Given our relative lack of picks over the past few years, high teens would seem a decent accomplishment.

I wouldn't say we're deep but Cowan, Minten, Grebyonkin, Teverberg and Hildeby look like pretty solid bets and we've promoted Woll, Robertson and Knies over the last couple of years

That's pretty bloody good, who outside the 10 worst teams can say they have a new wave of talent like that coming?

Probably around #20 .. at best #15

Lack of high end blue chippers will hurt them, but there's some promising depth.

Really depends on how their view the strides Cowan and Grab have made, not to mention the progress of Minten (making the team out of camp) ... Hildeby and Tverberg too.

Plus the fact that leafs havnt been crap since they drafted mathews

Next Year... 8 of the Top 9 forwards:
Matthews, Nylander, Marner, Tavares, Knies, Robertson, Jarnkrok, Grebyonkin

Holmberg, Kampf, Reaves also under contract.
And they still got Cowan, Minten, Steeves who could all compete in camp.

They really need to spend their cap space on D.

The problem with Greb is he might not want to play in the AHL, he could make more money in the KHL… something we’ve seen happen with other players around the league.

I wonder if he needs one more year in the KHL getting more top-6 ice time. Looks really promising as a prospect, only about to turn 21.

Defense is incredibly weak and it's our Achilles heel. We are old with no replacements.

#LeafsForever Nikita Grebyonkin agent ask is 50 million rubles ($553,500 USD)

can the leafs offer him $600,000 on his elc 1 way?
or is the lower amount in the ahl a rule for an elc?
anyone know for sure?

Well, kind of ... except...

Brodie and Giordano are on the last year of their contracts and Giordano is being phased out.

Brodie - 33 (And people are clamouring for 34 year old Tanev)

Rielly - 29
McCabe - 30
Liljegren - 24 (180 games)
Benoit - 25 (170 games)
Timmins - 25 (94 games)

-- spare
Lagesson - 27

Realistically, they are too young/inexperienced on defense , and need one top pairing defender.
