If you assumed the return for 55 would be "good young player, top prospect, and draft pick" what potential trades are out there?

I like the outline of you asset pieces and I would build in the assumption you might need enough cap hit coming back from the package to work with teams that are up against it.

What are some examples? Off the top of my head I can't think of any.
I thought of Duchene, Tavares and Trocheck.

Mackinnon exploded after Duchene left, I don't remember who was the 2c there. Think it was Soderberg. I don't expect PLD to explode like McKinnon though. That's 100 pt/82gp and a hart trophy candidate.

Tavares had barzal and Nelson behind him.

Think FLA had Wennberg after after Trocheck. But they acquired Bennett the tdl after, but they were still playing real well

Barring a top 6 C in return or signing one in FA we'd have PLD and ??? Unless ofc they re sign Stastny or actually play perfetti at C.

Do you really entertain the thought of keeping 55 around?
Is it foolish to "hope" he gives more of a consistent effort next season?
Or, would it be foolish to trade him after a "down' year for a lesser return.
I would deal him if you can get a top 6 forward with a little grit and a good prospect or a top 4 D and a good prospect.

I think it all really depends on what's going on behind the scenes. If you can somehow move on from Wheeler its a no brainer to me to keep him. I think Scheifele needs a sports psychologist more than anything. That, or he stopped listening to Maurice and Lowry offered nothing different.

If it's a no brainer to keep him, what kind of extension do you envision giving him at 31?

Perfetti could be our Barzal. Wouldn't that be nice

Chef wants to know what the team's vision is....

I want to know where Chef's vision was all season, because he kept passing the puck to the other teams with pretty good consistency.

Sometime during the season Chef changed the front of his jersey from:

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out bud.

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out bud.

Did he say something recently?

I've been warming up to the idea of Scheifele being traded over the last year. His candor in last year's playoffs was the outward expression of his inner inability to play a decent two-way game. Wait - let me check that. He can play a two-way game, but chooses not to. His Jake Evans hit and his petulant attitude after the fact did little to warm my expectations.

I figure that management will try and run it back with as minimal changes to the core as possible, what with Scheifele on two years contract remaining, Wheeler with his two year contract remaining, and Hellebuyck with his two-year contract remaining. However, players in the relative prime of their careers are less likely to want to be part of a particularly painful rebuild. Fefe has been here since the start, more or less. He's seen how long it took the Jets to get a modicum of respectability in the playoffs. Now that's seemingly gone.

Now we're at a nexus. Trade him with 2 years left on his contract? That would get you the most value for the player, but you're more likely to lose this trade. Keep him for another year? Less value for the trade, but he's still a highly effective top six center for your team.

This team is heavily flawed. Mark Chipman said that he doesn't foresee any drastic changes this off season. He likes Kevin Cheveldayoff's patient approach to team building. Do they think a new coaching staff is all that is needed? Do they think Dave Lowry is their guy? Do they reset and build again? Look at the teams that have passed the Jets. Colorado finished bottom 5 in the league 5 years ago. Florida was a laughing stock at the same time. The Jets were just about to have the best year of their life.

Drastic change? You don't need a drastic change, but you need a critical thought about the direction of your club, because treading water while slowly piling lead weights on hoping you get stronger is not an effective way to learn how to swim.

He did a postgame interview today with Lowry. Not sure what it means for locker cleanout interviews tomorrow but he was pretty candid.
Illegal Curve guys said tonight is locker clean out day in all tense of purposes. Chevy only one speaking tomorrow apparently.
