Absolutely hilarious that after all the grief, Mark will probably end the season #1 or #2 in these underlying metrics:
Lol. too funny.

I think if you look 2 years back the majority of these boards believed that Scheifele should be the C, and Wheeler cast into the sun. I don't see any trade coming involving Scheifele that makes the team immediately better, so let's hope he has a rebound season, because this season is one to be forgotten. As long as shief is wearing a letter and out number one C this should be a tank thread too because this team is not going anywhere

Agreed. Trading Sheif would be a huge mistake. You don’t find big ppg centres period. I want to trade Wheeler. Now I am firmly in the keep Mark camp. Just need to surround him with Ehlers and another defense first winger. Not sure who though, don't think the player exists internally.
Lol. too funny.
Is he done for the season?
No word yet. With so few games left it could be a possibility I guess.
Absolutely zero sense in brining him back for a game or two.
Agreed. Wouldn't this be the perfect time to run Perfetti as the 2nd line C???
Terrible luck.
Another one of my dubious theories: perhaps Scheif took (is still taking) Dale Hawerchuk's illness and subsequent death harder than we may realize. Dale was his coach, a mentor and a friend. Dale was the guy that recommended to the Jets that Mark was THE guy to pick 1st in the organization's 1st ever draft. They were close, to say they least. Dale revealed in 2019 that he was battling cancer (f*** cancer, BTW). Everyone reacts differently to losing someone close. Maybe it messed (is messing) with Mark's head more than we could realize. Again, just a theory.
Unless he's holding back the former beast mode version of Schiefele until he gets traded.Been hearing the opinions from different pundents that Chef has actually asked for a trade. I’m not buying this. I can see the Jets trading him, but him asking to be traded?
Why would he ask for a trade? Anywhere he gets traded to that team will hold him accountable for his play, yet if he stays in the Peg , no one ever hold him accountable.
Unless he asked for a trade last offseason or right when Maurice quit. It would totally explain his play this year - he spent the whole season trying not to get hurt and anticipating offensive chances... if NHL GMs knew he asked in the offseason, they would easily forgive this season of play.Been hearing the opinions from different pundents that Chef has actually asked for a trade. Clearly, with our leader in goals against out of the lineup, Wheeler and Dubois stepped up to fill that hole.Jets 1-4 since the Scheifele injury with a goal differential of -11.
Not that I put much weight into "team's record in a small sample since player x was hurt" metrics but I know some here are big fans of these stats and love to point them out when making points against certain players so thought I'd mention it.
Which supports Chevy's comments about trying to get a 1 - 2 punch at C and not going to turn around and trade one (unless a C comes back I suppose).Jets 1-4 since the Scheifele injury with a goal differential of -11.

Just keeping it real.Clearly, with our leader in goals against out of the lineup, Wheeler and Dubois stepped up to fill that hole.![]()
Yep but kfc is playing better with pld and in pre 55 era jets 2.0 we didn’t have a superstar winger.Just keeping it real.
We all know if the Jets record without him was 4-1 it would be a big topic of discussion now. I know many here have been demanding 55 be traded and the baton be handed to PLD- a guy whose production so far I must remind folks is pretty much identical to prime Little (who everyone criticized for not being a #1C in the pre-55 era).
This is where I feel Stastny comes in. He's out there playing smart hockey every night, winning a lot of faceoffs and matchups. He did that last year, scoring a big OT GWG. And who knows how the series with Montreal goes if the Jets win game 1 with him in the lineup.Which supports Chevy's comments about trying to get a 1 - 2 punch at C and not going to turn around and trade one (unless a C comes back I suppose).
Once again poor Svech , good numbers but you get on the 4th line and play 4 minutes ok and Stanley.....Ooof .Lol. too funny.

He should play above Sanford and some others for sure….but on any decent playoff team (TBL,Avs, Bruins, Cane, etc)he is 3rd, more likely 4th line. If Svechnikov plays top 6 all year we are a non playoff team next year.Once again poor Svech , good numbers but you get on the 4th line and play 4 minutes ok and Stanley.....Ooof .
