The thing I don't get is why Staal won't just say "My eye is fully recovered, I have no lingering vision problems." Since that is what everyone wants to hear him say, if it is true.
The Staal brothers are like Terminator goo - separate them and they immediately start to coalesce back together.

That article says that Staal is comfortable with his eye never getting back to 100%.
"He said that he feels his eye is getting better each day and while he says he has come to terms with it not being 100%, he is getting more comfortable with where his eye is at."
Call me pessimistic but I don't think that is the best case scenario here. Looking back at the night of the injury, of course I am ecstatic that he is even doing this well. But, looking forward for the future of this team, he is our top D-man and if he is playing without 100% vision, I fear we will not have the same Marc Staal we used to have on our blue line. I just wish the guy could be back to the playing level he had the night before he got hit in the eye with a puck.

All we hear is how Staal is progressing very slowly, how it will be an adjustment for him the rest of his career.... then all of sudden hes "100%" and "completely healthy"?
I dont buy it. Sounds to me like Staal really wants to play in the Olympics and is hitching his wagon now... and its hard to believe everything out of Sathers mouth as well.

At this point I believe what Marc Staal says--that he's healthy. We'll see if there are any lingering effects that affect his game once he hits the ice.

If it's really bad we'll probably see him make mistakes because of his depth perception. If it's subtle we may not know until late into the season or however long it would have taken him to reach his previous level. In the latter case we may not know for a while.

I heard they're allowing him to have a guide dog on the rink at all times, but the catch is the dog must be on skates.
If you were to tell everyone here the night of the injury that Staal would miss the rest of the season and never fully recover 100%, most would go ballistic.
Not the worst, but still a terrible ****ing outcome.
Just another reason why the Rangers are cursed.

And it counts towards the amount of skaters on the ice. Meaning they probably won't use Staal much on the penalty kill.

I hope he comes back better than ever. He was terrific before all this. But depending on what exactly is the problem with his eye could make a huge difference. Remember he was concussed and if it's his peripheral vision that's a problem, well watch out he won't see hits coming.
Sather seemed like he would've had trouble with the question "What is your name?" in that interview. I'd take his prognosis with a grain of salt.

A sure thing for what? Clearly he's healthy enough to play. The question is, assuming his eye is not at 100%, a) what percent is it at?, and b) how much will that effect his performance? I guess we'll find out soon enough.
