Senators "team D" leaves a lot to be desired. They give up a lot of 2 on 1s, high danger shots in the slot, blown coverage plays, etc.
Typically teams with good Team D have good GAA numbers. Sogaard hasn't been stellar for sure, but just look at how Gustavsson's numbers improved after going to the Wild who have a better team D. Instead of being inserted carefully and gradually into the lineup, Sogaard was thrown into the fire because of injuries to our starters.
I think the whole blame it on the goalie is largely (largely versus entirely) fueled by the need to find a find a simplistic explanation and the need for a scape goat. Again, not saying he's played well, but it's lazy thinking to put all the blame on him. I'm sure absent the injuries to our starters, they would be implementing a different plan.
I would assume because they could work remotely and didn't have to go into their office/work location. Toronto housing is very expensive.
