Well, Rutherford said that everything needs to go right for the Canucks to have a realistic shot at a playoff spot, so you can hope for that scenario to play out.

If the cap goes up in the next few years, an 8M top 6 player will be a good commodity. I wanted him gone before Bo, but am willing to see how the next few years play out.

Kesler plays a style that doesn’t age well, nevermind the fact his body broke down from playing that way.
Miller up to this point has been super healthy so it’s not like injuries are piling up and he gets majority of his points off the PP so hard to project that part of the game declining.

Just one torn labrum can change that overnight though. It's impossible to predict it's really not worth it. Even players like LInden and Bure were never the same as Canucks after serious knee injuries at much younger ages.
It's such a lame boo hoo....the likelihood is at 34/35 he will be a overpaid player no matter what happens it's just the way it goes when guys hold the hammers in negotiations at 27/28yrs old.
You have to take some risk....you're not replacing Miller with a Lindholm or Scheifele on a value deal ending at 32 and your not getting a younger guy without a massive haul of assets surrendered if it's even possible.

I don't think it was unexpected for a workhorse like Linden, or two pretty reckless players like Kesler and Bure to have injury troubles find them, though.
I mean that kind of injury fuxks you up regardless of age. Get it too young it takes away development time. Get it any time after 27, good luck getting speed back.

He is very very unlikely to be as horrific, as he was for the first 50 games last year, but he is not sniffing 99 ever.

I mean if you ignore the previous 81 games where he put up 99 points and the subsequent 30 games where he went on like a 90pt pace.
Like I said, the 5v5 scoring was pretty weak last season and his 5v5 play at center is also in question.
With him being 30, the projection isn't fantastic. I don't expect a two-way, point-per-game center.
He doesn’t really need to be a 2way PPG center for the contract to be worth it. If he stays PPG and is even at ES then he’s earning his contract.
Larkin has worse advance stats, technically plays on an equally bad team last 2 season and makes 8.75M. Bo is a lesser player than Miller and makes 8.5M. Neither of them is at PPG either, Larkin is close, like 1-2 points off.
8M doesn’t get you a PPG 2 way center unless you have a bunch of RFA years.

What makes you think I am ignoring those stretches of play..? I called last summer his production was not sustainable in the least and then he didnt sustain it in the least.
No idea, so apparently the joint is hip labrum and the tear is called labral tear.
Well there are 2 things. The 99 point season is like a career year so yes, career years tend to be not repeatable, but it shows that he has that ability. 2nd, you are attributing his bad start to him being the bad player you think he is rather than him struggling because everything was on fire. Even he said he was struggling because he was trying to do too much because there was no coaching direction.
And on top of that he clarified that we could still make the playoffs if things went wrong, just that we'd be counting on the "difference makers" (Hughes, Petersson, Demko) to carry the team in. It's not hard to see them doing that, but Rutherford said he wants to get the team to the point where that's not necessary.

The glenoid labrum is in the shoulder. In general, a labrum is soft tissue or cartilage that surrounds the socket in a ball and socket joint. It provides support to the bones and keeps them in place. In the hip it is the acetabular labrum the repair of which was part of my hip surgery.
