Are you still waiting for Juolevi to break out?

This feels like the first full year that this management will have a roster they can say is theirs. There has been a lot of clean-up and not a lot of time. But the excuses are coming to an end and this is the year we need to see some results.

So with that being said I see rationale behind someone who feels they need more time before deciding where this management group ranks.

I don’t see the need to rush to any opinion. The team looks better on paper 100% but it’s hard to tell how well they’ll gel and execute.

What happens when they say the same thing next year.

C’mon this is an Internet forum. You aren’t banned or shunned if you’re wrong. JR and Al actually have their jobs on the line, and this poster can’t even bring themselves to make a prediction of the lowest order in support. The NHL has like the lowest barrier to playoff entry. They’re at 2.3 odds to make them!

That’s what Benning bros do
I’m glad you admit it finally.

You need to try harder

Anyways, I’ll go out on a limb and say that they’ll make playoffs this year.
And win a round in the next 4 ;)

I've said a few times I think we will be the surprise team of the West this year.

I love this management's attention to detail and their emphasis on development. You hear it from the players, the coaches, the president - Everyone is feeling we have things in order to start the year. It's drastically different from last year when there simply wasn't enough time to turn over the blueline and enough bad CAP off the books. That's why I believe this is the first year we can start criticizing management if the wheels fall off again - they've had some time and they've managed to get rid of a lot of then old stench from the previous regime.

It's easy to be skeptical about this season because we are Canuck fans and we've endured a Hella long 8 yrs with Benning, but I find it easier to be optimistic this year with the way the chips are falling. Hope to be right.

I’d say Demko has his best years in front of him..and Miller is a late bloomer.
Very wishful thinking right here.

Miller's best years are already behind him with a big fat contract just beginning.

Demko's health is still a question even in his late 20s. His main games played are:

2019 - 27 games
2020 - 35 games
2021 - 64 games
2022 - 32 games

There's no reason to believe he will suddenly become an ironman going into his 30s.

Understandable Mole man is trying to lower expectations and prevent this volcanic eruption that will destroy the town if the team gets off to a slow start. They know everything is on the line this year for the org, for the management, and for key players deciding their future. Fans will quit on this management too if they don't make it. With the moves they've made, mole man has to be pretty confident in the team and he's just hiding some of that enthusiasm. The roster has had massive turnover and I don't think it's fair for JR to say they are not where they want to be just because 2 of Benning's contracts are still on the books.

I'm surprised he pretty much called out Myers and Garland's contract like that.

JT Miller has averaged 90 points in the last 2 seasons...what a disaster I tells ya..Not declining any time soon.

……………..

In 2019..Demko was a backup to Marky

2020 was a shortened covid season 56 games.. (he got covid in a big way)..He played well otherwise…Played over 60% of the season.

2021…He was outstanding.

2022…He was injured.

You can't possibly predict that J.T. won't decline. It's Benning level bad.

Demko hasn't proven that he can stay healthy long term.

We all know he is going to decline, nobody denies that. At least wait till the season starts and he goes on a slump first before doing the whole told you so. Or maybe have more patience and do that when he actually declines before proclaiming he’s is worse than last year.

Where did I say JTM won’t ever decline..?..All older players do..I just said he’s averaged 90 points a season, the last two seasons..If he’s anywhere near 80-90 points next season..it’s a win .His best two years have been the last two..

Yeah,Demko could be healthier..but hey..at least we have a franchise/elite goalie..Should be a lot better this season with more of a structured team D.

Its fine to be optimistic about the upcoming season. I wish I could be.

I just don't see any reason to believe that Miller won't continue to regress and Demko won't struggle to play more than 40 games.
