Wrong Benning would be here still if it wasn’t for the fans uprising

Hughes also said “we have unfinished business this year” and clearly he was completely f***ing wrong because hockey players are usually morons that can’t run hockey teams

You're both right.

The fans did revolt, AND, the leedar did his very best to make sure that he appeared, not just in front of fans, but to EVERYONE across the sports world, that he is one of THE most pathetically incompetent GM in modern era.

The man should be inducted into the hockey hall of fame. He really should.

If you listen to JR's comments on the team when he was first hired, he claimed that the 'rebuild cycle' was already completed with this team....and we were looking at an approximate 2 year retool.

I think that JR's and FA's mandate are in complete alignment as to the 'plan' here...They haven't altered course.
'Accidental tanking during an attempted retool' would be a more appropriate term.

Although its definitely more of a messy one. 😂

Ya I’m a casual fan! Been a fan for almost 40 years and attend almost every game. Also travel around watching them in different cities. So casual!
“Aren’t there more important things to focus on”- a direct quote from one DonnyNucker. Didn’t mean to insult you just going by what you literally wrote.

I’m referring to yelling at ownership for several years and petitioning for management change. Life is too fun and short. But to each their own. All good!

There's levels to how far you take something seriously even if you are really passionate about it. Fandom is the best example of it. People shouldn't have to defend such an innocuous quote to prove they care at a healthy level.

Do I want a rebuild? Yes

Is that going to happen? No

I can only hope they make better decisions that leads to success. I wanted Benning to succeed. f*** I would have loved to be proven wrong time and time again because that would have meant this team is good.

I literally can only hope I’m wrong and the team kicks ass next year. I don’t personally see it but with Demko back and playing like he is who f***ing knows. Boy I’d love to be wrong.

Saying something is pointless and there's no point in talking about it, means what to you?

Him saying that people should go away and talk about a rebuild in another thread means that he wants us to stay and continue discussing it?

No, it clearly doesn't.

Apparently we aren't allowed to talk about rebuilds in here. Better be careful or you'll get ganged up on.
You know when the librarian shushes you in the library she isn't 'sIleNcInG yOuR rIgHt tO eXpReSsIoN' right?

I don't think it's too much to ask to be able to click on a thread and actually gain insight about the topic instead of wading through the same 8 posters screeching about how much they hate this team and its direction.

We get it. You're happy readers of Thomas Drance, go off king. But maybe do it where it's appropriate like management threads (like this one, but not the Hronek thread which got absolutely polluted).

"go off king". get out of here

your input in the hronek thread was to question whether i actually lived in detroit because i posted a take that didn't confirm your assumptions about the player

this forum has mods. let them do their jobs. no one asked you

You literally compared him to Tyler Myers. You couldn't make a poorer comparison if you tried.

With that said, while I disagreed strongly with you, you were indeed discussing the player, so the callout wasn't really about you.

This is the management thread, please take the hronek/myers talk to the appropriate thread.

Yes...

I'm posting in the management thread and I don't post in random threads that are off-topic.

I'm not doing anything wrong, but you felt the need to scold me anyways?

Hope it made you feel better. 😂

Wow, this is so well done. Right up there with when you tell a 6 year old to wait a second and they go, 'one thousand and one' "it's been a second XD".

So keep up with that, your preschool teacher will be thrilled.

Lol do you need a hug or something? Whatever is going on today, tomorrow will be a better day.

Since we’re not getting a rebuild, I want the 2023 1st to be shopped during draft week. What are the odds of the 9th overall pick being as impactful from 2023-2027 as some of the players you could get via trade for that pick?

If the plan is to be all-in for these next 4-5 years then any valuable asset that doesn’t fit that timeline should be on the table.

If it fails then they’ll be no choice but to rebuild in like 2027 or 2028.

Right, so you’re asking fans to take a more “casual” attitude towards the team, like your you and others have and that’s ok. I have pals that just want to crush some beers and watch sweet goals and saves and don’t care if we ever win a cup, they just need a night to night distraction. That’s cool. I mean I disagreed with them because if it were up to them Benning would still be in charge because they just didn’t care about the management of the team just score some sweet goals and let’s see Demmer make some saves and crush some brews!

Pretty high - especially if they're a forward. Depends on how deep the draft is (which it is). It really depends on how the organization views the players at that draft area.

I think a lot of forwards at that spot will be able to contribute on an ELC in 2 years, which still fits our timeline.

Podkolzin was great in his rookie year in his D+3 year
Hoglander was great in his rookie year in his D+2 year

Not everything is linear though... neither are producing at the NHL level on a consistent basis right now. If there is a young impactful player on a good contract, I agree with you that we should explore that. A Kirby Dach style trade would be great for the Canucks if it's for a RD or a C. We don't need wingers and LD (if we're keeping OEL).

I don't think there are any type of trade available that makes sense... Maybe Lundell from Florida?? Rasmussen from Detroit? Doubt it though.

GM’s get draft pick crazy during draft night. I’d be shocked if there weren’t good players offered up for 9th overall.

Like you said, we need a RD or C so what are the odds you draft one at that position that can perform at a top 9/top 4 level?

I don’t think the pick will be traded..JR said that the team wasn’t in the cycle of trading their top pick (even though we traded the NYI pick..but that was a surplus pick).

A player in this deep draft in the top 10 could be on the Canucks roster by the 2014-25 season …(if it’s a goalie or D man it could be a year later).
