Am I allowed to play devil's advocate here.

If Dubas were still here and he made this exact trade, I think you see more reaction regarding:
-More picks out the door once again
-A retread (let's not forget, a Dubas fault was staying loyal to what he knows/knew, whether it was Soo or his Calder Marlies)

There's also the excitement of the now vs. hindsight. If this doesn't work out and we are going into next year's deadline asking where did all the picks go. Well then you can add this 3rd and 6th to the Rittich/Hutton/Nash etc etc etc that have all happened recently.

I'm not against this trade, it seems a bit steep, but based on circumstances, it absolutely makes sense. I'm just saying, it's essentially the same thing that has happened over and over again. It's just being looked at differently cause it hasn't had the opportunity to fail and because a different person made the deal. But it is the exact same deal that has been happening since the 2021 deadline (barring McCabe who had term).

Not trying to stir shit, it's just another way of looking at it.
are you really trying equate Tre trading a 3rd with Dubas trading future 1sts as well his next four 2nds among other picks ?

it's truly amazing how much people loved a failed GM

I like but dont love this. His playstyle compounds Benoit as well as McCabe. Opponents will have to keep their head up. We probably use that additional cap space for something else but why 75% cap retention? It’s only a 6th but still.

The big win is for Sammy. Pretty sure he and Boosh and their wives spent Christmas together last year when Boosh was in Buffalo

Rielly-McCabe
Brodie-Boosh
Benoit-Liljegren

Rielly-Boosh
Brodie-Liljegren
Benoit-McCabe

Rielly-McCabe
Brodie-Liljegren
Benoit-Boosh

Some different looks that could be viable depending on deployment.
Big x factors-
Liljegren coming back from injury as the same guy that emerged over the 7 games before
McCabe meshing with Rielly.

We already tried Boosh before and he sucked, does nobody remember this? He was like the opposite of Schenn, adequate in the regular season and awful in the playoffs.
You realize that this team of All Stars has won exactly ONE round the last seven years right?

He will compete, he likes to hit and move things, block shots and even fights if he needs to. Imperfect as he is, this team needs more foot soldiers

Its like we dont understand that even a third pairing defenceman is on the ice impacting play as much as a lot of second line forwards. These are 40% of the players we have on the ice at any given time and we refuse to invest in quality players.

No wonder we get shut down in the playoffs, the forwards cant pass it to the point and if they do, no one is doing something smart with it. Dont even get me started on the rest of a defencemans impact. We are still 2 top 4 D (And at minimum one being a top 2) away from everyone playing in their proper role on the blueline.

Pesce/Hanifin would be a good start this offseason with Brodie leaving.

I don't mind it. But my god can we get Rielly an adequate partner ever?
Let me guess you wanted Tanev right? Like if we traded a first for Tanev basically a better version of Lyubushkin (can’t move the puck, provides zero offence) you’d probably be doing back flips. The issue in the playoffs is outside of Rielly we lack D that can get out of jams in the D zone. A guy like Larsson would be perfect but it would cost a ton snd I’m not sure he’s available.

Lyubushkin as a piece is ok depending on what else is coming. If he’s playing 20-24 mins a night in the playoffs it’s going to be a disaster

Yeah, I remember what happened in 2022. This is why I don't get people pencilling in Boosh next to Rielly in hypothetical playoff lineups, besides that I expect Keefe to do exactly that.

No, I wanted us to invest in the D years ago.

Tanev would've been fine (not for our 1st) but it would've just been another stop gap partner for Rielly past his prime.

Why are you putting words in my mouth? I have made two posts about this trade and said it was fine.
