Count me in the ‘like it, don’t love it crowd’. Cost is okay, fills needs, didn’t empty the cupboards.

One thing I like about Boosh is that he has the nickname and playstyle to actually encourage fan participation during games. It’s like an empty arena in there too often. But that’s just an aside.

Maybe there’s another addition incoming…but as is, I can see two fluid pairings among the three.

I can see Reilly and Brodie on separate pairs and Lili/Boosh alternating between them depending on circumstance. Lili and Reilly paired if you need some offence. Benoit and McCabe stay together.

I think one thing this deal shows is that money in/money out isn’t on the table too much and there’s not much appetite for moving forwards with term (Kampf or Jarnkrok, for example). Or that it doesn’t make much sense at the moment.

A couple other things:
A) the anti-Dubas crowd are insufferable
B) I don’t for the life of me understand the anti-Liljegren movement. Guy is good now, just hitting his stride, and has loads of skill.
I was a fan of his after his first couple of games here. Even said I would consider getting a jersey just to show my support. How silly would that have been? The guy had games with I think double digit hit numbers. Just beautiful.

I've seen enough hockey and I have always respected hard nosed players. Whatever Brad does I want each of them to have the intangibles that Boosh has. The guy will block a puck with his face if it means winning.

Leafs have guys like him and Benoit that are unsung heroes until you realize that they bring a game that every player on the team loves on their side.

Too many fake Leafs fans.

Only good thing about American Major markets is they don’t f*ck around with the homerism.

This dude would be out of a job so quick.
This was an article written by Dubas fan, or a Leafs Rival.

Bettman Hockey encourages us to subsidize crappy teams and even low brow soon to be destitute, 10th grade writers.

It’s true what they say. Everyone’s a Leaf fan even the haters. This guys a soulless sellout who for sure is a cuc* wishing he wasn’t employed by the Leafs teet to feed his family.

Pfffttt.

I don't know why people keep reading and posting this guy's crap.. it reads like bad fan fiction.

I would love for Tre to trade for Makar but that didn't happened.

Honestly, Boosh will be a good mix with the current group as he offers size, PK and toughness on the blueline.
Considering the price that Flames was asking, would rather have Boosh than Tanev.
Lets face it, even with Tanev, the Leafs will only go as far as AM, MM, Willie and Reilly take them. If AM and MM combined for ONE goal in a series again, it really doesn't matter if Tre trade for any Dman.

I don't know what reality you live in, but in the correct there is NO way they could have EVER traded for Makar.

Hah! Editor In Leaf is just a bunch of not really knowledgable Leaf fans and Tanner wants to have Dubas baby. This is his blog headline from last May

Toronto Maple Leafs Fire Kyle Dubas: Biggest Mistake in Franchise History

One more would really tip the scales in the leafs favor no matter who they're matched up against.
Seeler is a Schenn/Middleton type they may be able to buy low on. He would stand a better chance than Reaves of seeing regular minutes and he would be there to answer the bell if need be. He's my home run choice.

Bogosian or Edmundson would also be good alternatives. Playoff style players.

Is it really a job? Isn't this character just a fan with a blog?

That's not how I remember him in the playoffs. He certainly wasn't a liability. We deserved to win that series.
Excluding Liljegren's two games, he had the worst CF%, xGF% and GF% of any D on the team. Not sure what you're remembering then. I remember him struggling to do anything useful with the puck, unlike Schenn who at least managed simple breakout passes, and Benoit who uhh well let's just say he kills plays in both ends effectively.

Two picks for a depth plug is the exact OPPOSITE of what they should be doing.

"Out of 255 defensemen that have played over 500 minutes at 5v5, Lyubushkin ranks: 220th in xGF%, 193rd in GA/60, 172nd in CA/60, and 224th in xGA/60".

Any good memories fans had of Lyubushkin are about to be obliterated.

It's entirely possible Lyubushkin will perform better here. It's even more probable he stinks. Lyubushkin is SO useless offensively his entire effectiveness is limited to hoping the other team doesn't score while he's on the ice.

And he's not even good at that.

The only way to positively spin this is that Treliving didn't trade the first. So the hope is they still land a better defenseman. Which would likely make Lyubushkin a healthy scratch half the time.

Another master class in asset management, Toronto Maple Leafs style.

What kind of advance stats were you expecting to see for a stay at home d on a lottery team. Common sense please

Boosh was > 50% in CF, SF, xGF, SCF, HDCF when he was a Leaf.

A rising tide raises all ships.

According to NST Lyubushkin was being supported by Rielly. His numbers away from Rielly were pedestrian (50.1% CF%, 48.78 FF%, 48.89 SF%, 46.15 GF%, 49.44 xGF%). Rielly's numbers without Lyubushkin were better.

I really hope anyone isn't thinking Lyubushkin makes Rielly's play appear better and not the other way around.

If you follow your own train of thoughts you will realize why the stats you plucked out are totally useless for us from an analysis point of view. Boosh is going to be used as a well oiled machine chip. It's not that hard to understand.

What does this guy expect to happen when a stay at home D loses the best offensive dmen as his partner? The numbers will drop all the time. Rielly is the best D at transitioning the puck.

Boosh also play less 5v5 minutes than most of the D. He was taken out of situation where the CF and xGF would be higher and the dmen accumulate ice time away from him.

It stupid to even analyze it this deep for a depth stay at home d. it will come down to how he is used

Hands of stone D experiences drop in xGF when skilled partner is removed from his pairing. I would have never expected to witness that in a million years.

Said no one ever.

Remind me not to log in again for the day so I don't ruin my weekend.

Hopefully Boosh drops 5 hits on the Rags tonight. Let's goooooooo *Reaves flex*

Rielly plays offense more like a 4th forward so he needs a partner who can play ALL the D. So ofcourse Boosh offense numbers are better with Rielly and Rielly’s d numbers look better with a d man like Boosh

Unless there are much larger acquisitions planned either trades or using first rounder, getting Boosh back is a waste of draft choices. We need sooo much more. I hope this isn't considered "all in"

Then why were Rielly's numbers so much better with virtually every other defenseman than Lyubushkin?
