The Ducks are an awful club, but not their PK which is 10th in the league:thumbu: I like it.
Unfortunately, Lyubushkin is dead last among Anaheim D in shots, scoring chances, higher danger chances, expected goals, and goals against on the PK.
Ryan O’Reilly, Nick Foligno, Peter Mrazek, Marleau trade. So zero it is
You seem to have misread the discussion, but none of Muzzin, Foligno, O'Rielly, or McCabe were bad fits.

It's just the same drivel from the dubas media fans who think the game is just numbers and graphs, and a portion of the fanbase.

They are extremely biased and don't really offer anything to the conversation. Their words shouldn't be trusted, because it has nothing to do with the hockey side of things. It is simply who made the move.

It's disappointing to see, but wholly understandable as they have been acting this way for 6 years.

Let me save that poster five pages of posting to summarize as follows:

Those were all just unlucky trades, which gave unlucky results, resulting in unlucky losses in the first round, play-in round, and 5 games of the second round.

It really is just that simple, they were well worth the four first round picks and five years worth of embarrassing playoff / play-in round exits!

Tre going bargain shopping. Whos next?

Hope not. Not at all the player he was a couple of years ago. He is actually doing worse on a stronger Capitals team than last year.

I hope the Boosh deal was instead of him but he would be better than Savard. The problem is deals like these aren't move the needle improvements, more just kind of crack filler and this was not a Cup quality D corps before the injuries.

What this say, couldn’t open it?

And wrong every time, the inability to evolve is sad. Hockey isn't baseball, stats are good information, but they aren't written on a tablet.

Plenty on this board poo pooed acquiring Benoit, they’ll be getting a second helping of humble pie after Boosh proves them wrong again……

It's quite hilarious seeing people act so confidently and proudly incorrect about the game of hockey even in the face of being wrong about the team for 5 whole years.

You'd think there'd be lessons learned and experience gained from all of that failure, but alas, just keep trotting out the same failed mantras over and over and over.

Isn't Fowler worse in some of those categories or do you mean expected goals against and not total?

edit - I think I misunderstood the end of your post

Our best D move come playoff time will be the forwards helping out and good goaltending. Leave as is and play hard. This team is good enough. They know how to take it up a gear ( just watch them Saturday) I hope they dont waste a first.

I’m remember Dreger mentioned his name last week during intermission.

I thought it was so random and out of left field, but here we are….
I can confirm I am not Dreger.

Give me Benoits all day if I am building a Cup contender. I stated on here that when Leafs traded our beloved Clark for Sundin it was a tough pill to swallow, but, I understood the objective. What I was most concerned with was trying to replace Lefebvre who was a stalwart shutdown Dman for us. He won the Cup with the AVs soon after, not to my surprise.

The offense is there. Brad added some necessary grind and presence with Bert, Domi and Reaves. If Domi can play both ways, he's can be a major pest with his speed and vision. Bert loves the net, which is crucial come playoffs, and Reaves is a heart and soul guy. I've said from day one they are here for the playoffs almost exclusively and they are coming into their own (as long as they are defensively responsible).

They don't need Klingbergs. They do need D men to shoot more on the PP once in awhile sure, but if it isn't a rocket science, they just need to find the seam and let players tip, screen and sink rebounds. A simple wrist shot does the trick. It is more important to be defensively sound, physical (playoffs people, playoffs, this isn't EA Sports), and enough vision to get the puck to the forwards.

Hey guys so apparently we f***ed up. 3rd and 6th rounds picks are of immense value, we are stupid to trade for a D, we should just keep playing Marner on defence instead. Acquiring a depth RD at 600k is very very bad. We are doomed.

What good are puck moving defenseman when they are on their ass come playoff time? I don't hate having 4 legitimate hitting defenseman on the ice come playoffs even if they arent Bobby Orr with the puck.

So much is simply winning a puck battle and getting it out to guys like Nylander (he might be at center ice already but still) I for one prefer bruisers down low in the Leafs end. How many times do they just lose the puck and it becomes an adventure. Need to bully the puck more.
