Mooseheads shouldn't have lost that game..

My god that PK unit strategy is the worst thing I've ever seen. It is literally a four man box that doesn't move. They don't pressure the puck carrier, they allow the man to stand unhindered in front of the goaltender.. and they literally don't skate.. it was baffling..

Ehlers was dynamic as always.

Is Claude Noel coaching the mooseheads?

Uninterested!?!?!?!

He was literally the only forward making anything happen for Halifax last night, almost every shift he would take on 2 or 3 Moncton D and create a chance all by himself.

If you read the first 2 lines again, its a form of satire, around the fact that this kid is too way good...... to spend one more minute in junior.....

Nikolaj Ehlers seems completely uninterested....

As far as needing to come back for his final season in QMJHL......

Can't wait to see this this kid do serious damage, in the Peg.

Jeez, I'd like to see what he could do if he was actually interested in the games :sarcasm:

Does he make the big club next year?

It's a big jump going from the Q to nhl.

I think he makes the jump. The Jets are generally conservative in terms of bringing prospects into the NHL but Ehlers has elite talent that will translate. Also, I can't imagine the Jets wanting to stick him back in the Q. He's already easily the best player in the league so he won't develop any further in what has become a fairly toxic environment.

He'll make the Jets because he simply has no where else to go. He's too good for the CHL, can't go to the AHL and the Jets likely wouldn't want him going back to Europe.

There's no way we're re-signing both Frolik and Stafford. If one or both of them leave, Ehlers has a spot locked up.

There would still be a spot if both are locked up. I'd love to see the following combination.

Ladd Little Frolik

Perrault Scheifele - Wheeler

Ehlers - Lowry - Stafford

Nikolaj is kinda good at ice hockey. 13 games 30 points, more to come in the game.

Usually when someone has those kind of numbers, it's because they're playing against bottom feeder teams early in the playoffs. Yet this year the Mooseheads have been the underdogs in both series. It's just amazing what he's doing right now.

Jaysus the kid is a beast

Yes. But you know what, I am slowly starting to wonder if he's going to be physically ready to play in the NHL next season. Is he tough as nails? Yeah, he really is, he takes a beating and doesn't relent. But, I don't know if he's going to be able NHL bodies beating on him, because at times he struggles with junior kids.

Will he leave 90% of the NHL in the dust with his skating? Yes.

But there's more to then game then just being dynamic offensively.

I hope he does it, because as a fan of his, I'd like to see him succeed. He will ultimately for sure, but I'm starting to question if it will be this coming season. I mean, training camp is basically 4 months away.

If Johnny Hockey can survive I'm sure Ehlers can. Although I see Johnny Hockey avoid contact at all costs, haven't seen to many full games of Nik, how is his physical contact escapability? some highlights I seem him initiate contact, He'll need to pick his spots in the big league. Maybe plaster Johnny Hockey himself.

Can you elaborate a bit for us who aren't able to watch him as much? In what way does he struggle with junior kids? How does it affect his game etc.

Thank you for your input, it's much appreciated

With this kind of production, I'm sure he'll be at worst an avg 2nd liner.

Ehlers has the smarts to avoid hits but he also has the smarts (and bravery) to take a hit to draw a defender out of the way. Plus, he's carrying Halifax right now so he's holding onto the puck a lot and has a target on his back the whole time.

Interesting with those type of numbers in the playoffs and that spread in scoring between Nik and some really good young prospects it seems evident that there isn't allot left for him to learn in the Q? I really wonder how the Jets are going to handle him next season? Petan put up back to back stupid scoring numbers in the dub but they still sent him back in his draft plus 2 season? I think they are going to have to keep Nik up and figure it out.

Pretty sure he means how does he "look" on the ice, not how do the stats look, anyone has access to the internet if they are on this site, not everyone can view the players live.

I have gotten to see a lot more of Ehlers than I ever did for Mantha but I would take Ehlers this season over Mantha last. I would also take Ehlers this year over Drouin last and I think I would have taken Drouin on Halifax over Mantha last year, but it was pretty much a wash between the two.

Petan is a midget though. The official weights only give Ehlers a small advantage, but I would be surprised if he isn't significantly heavier next fall than his current official weight. He gained 14 lbs between the start of last season and the start of this. I can't see any reason why he wouldn't commit himself to become heavier and stronger once again. I would be surprised if he doesn't start the season in Winnipeg next year.
