Mooseheads shouldn't have lost that game..

My god that PK unit strategy is the worst thing I've ever seen. It is literally a four man box that doesn't move. They don't pressure the puck carrier, they allow the man to stand unhindered in front of the goaltender.. and they literally don't skate.. it was baffling..

Ehlers was dynamic as always.

/sigh

I feel like passing on Ehlers to take Jake freaking Derpanen is going to haunt us for years to come.

Not really, ehlers stoped up more than the Swiss player and his head went directly into the boards face on whereas ehlers was going much slower and didn't go head first straight on. I've been cross checked like that many times and fell into the boards, still a penalty, but ehlers definitely sold it a little bit on that one.

 lmao, I can't even.

He's just very smart on the ice, I think he'll figure out how to use his abilities at top speed and adapt to the nhl. Also tend to notice how he really feeds off of the crowd in Halifax, and with Winnipeg having the best fans in the league I think people are in for a treat at the MTS centre once he settles in. well, here's hoping :jump:

This thread has just turned into a huge Ehlers circle jerk amongst Jets fans.

But I'm ok with that.

Well, you can only state how awesome he is so many times. Been pumping this kid's tires for a while now. I think he is going to be in the NHL next year and be dynamite. Possibly a Calder candidate.

McEichel has that locked up.

Oh, probably yeah. You never know though. If Ehlers can have a Gaudreau-type season while McEichel plays on offensively challenged teams like Sabres/Coyotes anything can happen, but realistically one of those two win obviously. Ehlers is a really good prospect in his own right though and it wouldn't surprise me if he comes in and has a big impact right away on a strong Jets team. Ehlers-Scheifele-Wheeler could be a very productive line.

My god Ehlers is a monster.

For a team picking above 5th overall (scheifele,Trouba, Morrisey,Ehlers) I don't knw if you could have made any better picks even with the 20/20 vision of hindsight.

Chevy's drafting success so far has been basically not making any mistakes with his 1st round picks, and a couple of times having the fortune of a few teams ahead making unwise picks.

Scheifele was probably the right pick at #7 in 2011.
Trouba was great value at #9 in 2012.
Morrissey was a fine pick at #13 in 2013.
Ehlers was great value at #9 in 2014.

Add in a few good picks from later rounds (Lowry, Petan, Hellebuyck) and that's how a good prospect pool is developed.

Nikolaj Ehlers seems completely uninterested....

As far as needing to come back for his final season in QMJHL......

Can't wait to see this this kid do serious damage, in the Peg.

Very fair point. Appears to be excellent drafting by the Jets. Wait until Morrissey is 24-25 years old... he's going to be a stud.

Ehlers, forget about it. This kid is going to be a borderline-elite player in the NHL.

Uninterested!?!?!?!

He was literally the only forward making anything happen for Halifax last night, almost every shift he would take on 2 or 3 Moncton D and create a chance all by himself.
