It is great news that the Leafs are balking at Kadri and Bozak. The Canucks are just posturing. I bet if you wait them out til, say thursday, he could be had for something like bozak and reimer.

Assuming it is true, the fact that the Canucks and Leafs are even talking is awful news.

He said talks are on hold. Which means they aren't talking right now until some one budges.
They've talked since Burke was fired and he wasn't fired too long ago

There's just not much urgency right now to get a deal done for either team.. yet

Pierre Lebrun just said Leafs and Canucks have been talking since burke got fired. Leafs are not willing to meet the canucks price so talks on hold. Believed to be an established player and good prospect. i.e. bozak and kadri

Mr. Gillis, you may have Komisarek and Colborne and thats it. If you don't like it tell your owners to go choke on Luongo's contract.

New to HF and this discussion, but I can't believe that so many Media "experts" are predicting a Luongo trade is inevitable. Surely a 33 yr old second string goalie with a toxic contract is not in the Leafs future. I think Rick Nattress is the only media person I've heard say much the same, so his credibility goes way up for me. John Shannon is sounding like a lost cause.

Wouldn't that be a nice price. My god if Nonis pulled that off he'd be a god in this city.

If we don't get a goalie then were tanking. Reimer nor Scrivens are number one goalies IMO.

What's the problem? A top 5 pick would be a godsend.

Bozak/Connolly + Frattin/Colborne

I'd be down for any combination of the above

Hasn't Nonis stated that he isn't looking to trade youth?

And why would you trade Frattin/Colborne... trading away decent prospects for aging vets is what got us into this mess in the first place.

Leafs fans just don't learn. The leafs are not a goaltender away from becoming a contender, I don't think we're even a goaltender away from becoming a playoff team. The kids need to stay in the system, no point in mortgaging the future for a 9th place finish.

So it's starting to look like all of it was just talk and speculation. Nothing will happen and we won't be trading for Luongo. Reimer is a fine goalie, he might win a playoff spot. There are other goalies who have won even a Stanley Cup with these new rules immediately. Like Antti Niemi for example.

I kind of want to run with Reimer. Screw Luongo.

Should grab some veteran netminder like Theodore or something to back Reimer up.

That's what I wanted all along. That's why I was upset when Burke didn't sign Vokoun, since apparently he had interest in coming here too. He would've been the perfect signing.

Hahah Theodore to back up Reimer. Why don't we put Kessel on the 4th line and move Orr up to the first. We could give Komi a rover role as well. Reimer as a starter hahah, good stuff.

Any goalie can win a Stanley Cup during this short season. Even a rookie. Antti Niemi won his Cup even though they were playing that full 82 game season then. It's not about the goalies nowadays anymore. If the team plays well then anybody can win with these rules and this type of league. And now with the 48 game season... this is going to be some lottery. Any team can go anywhere. On any given sunday, anything can happen.

lol antti Niemi was an exception, that team was an all-star team that still looks amazing even after a tonne of players left.

past 10-15 years the winnier 9 times out of 10 has had an all-star goalie.
