GDT: Los Angeles Kings at Anaheim Ducks - February 27, 2015 - 7:00 p.m. (PST)

A regulation loss to the Jets will mean the Kings are out of the playoffs once again. No pressure.

You just hope the Kings don't look/aren't tired in that game, or else they will get run out of the building. Like tonight against the Ducks.

8-4 in the month of February, which isn't bad, but considering the last 2 games, it feels like we could've done better. We lost two of the three games in hand in 48 hours. We blew a chance at separating us from the WC by 4 points, and moving into second place.

Bernstein is a moron.

Perhaps a reason why a Habs scout (asst. coach?) has been at the last three Kings' games is the Kings play the...wait for it...

the Habs next Thursday. (!)

Oh I agree with that. The blurb about Stoll though is more disturbing to me. How the hell does a center who gets the playing time that he does go so long without an assist?

If only the Kings had another Bryan Smolinski like center in place of Stoll...

From what I can tell of these GDTs, in-game comments are almost exclusively complaining about Kings' players and excited utterances when a King scores a goal. Not a whole lot of analysis on the progression of the game actually takes place. It just appears you are all alone in saying the Ducks played awful in the first two periods.

Sure! Nice dodge there. When the boys are getting outplayed I've never known this board to just not mention it. I guess I was all alone as well in seeing the 3rd period collapse coming.

Dude, I really do love pissed off second-guessers. Please show me all the realtime comments in the first two periods complaining about being owned by the ducks.

The Kings were not good in the first two periods. Or the third period. They either did not, or could not, show up tonight. Everything was reaching with the stick. There was no driving through with the legs. Outside of a few bursts of energy by a guy or two, from top to bottom, they had nothing.

Always thought the whole "games-in-hand" thing was overrated. Unless you are a dependable regular season team (read: Ducks) then you are going to perform as you have performed for much of the season. Notwithstanding the Ottawa game, this one here has been played out time and again this season. We can't protect a ****ing lead to save our lives. The D weakness is continuously exposed.

We got to get our starting D-men back, that's all there is to it.

On the third period:
I think their forecheck overwhelmed us the whole night, and it caught up with us.

On his impressions of Andrej Sekera:
I thought their forecheck overwhelmed him.

On whether he “sensed or [felt] the game turning” in the third period:
No, if you were listening to Helene’s question, she asked, and I thought their forecheck was very strong tonight, and I think that probably us [playing] three-in-four caught up with us.

Yep, and the Sekera trade will be a big waste if Kopitar doesn't step it up because the team will go nowhere without him performing.

I agree, my point was the ducks were not any better in the first two periods. How many dangerous chances did they have in the first two periods? One?

Nice that the Canucks, Flames, and Sharks are just as inconsistent.

Same reason Kopitar has 6 even strength goals this year. Or how Carter could go 23 games with 2 goals and 5 assists earlier in the year. They're not doing enough to get the points.

Jarret Stoll's last 30 games played.

3G 1A 4P -3.

That's worse than Trevor Lewis status. Stoll even receives PP time.

I must have missed it, I'll have to focus on Greene a bit more the next game.

His a$$ better not be on the bench next game. Dude was absolutely horrible.
McBain better start over him.. If you get to focus on him, Kings will lose.

Team in general did not skate and got outworked. It was a fluke they were leading 2-0

How about Doughty with ZERO pp goals. Although I'm not surprised the way he shoots it high and wide almost every chance he gets.

Sekera: Liked his game. He did a lot of little things right... Slight interference to take a guy out of the play without getting called.... nice area pass behind the Ducks net so Brown could pick up the puck with speed. As soon as he learns where his outlets are he'll be fine. Kings breakout isn't rocket science, Sekera will have it down in a couple of practices and hopefully next game or 2.

Lewis: Gibson is Lewis' *****... that's at least 3 goals Lewis has against Gibson now. Considering how many goals Lewis has it's pretty funny.

Stoll: Thought he was done last year. Then he started destroying guys in the playoffs. Could happen again?

Sutter: Pulling the goalie... Think about how great it is to be within one goal at the end of the game and still have a chance to win, on the other hand if the game was a complete travesty think about how lucky you are it isn't going to last much longer.

McNabb: with his first goal for the Kings!!! Kids had some good shots and nice passes this season... don't forget that sweet setup on Greene's goal in the beginning of the year. Nice to see him get rewarded.

We're going STREAKING!!!! Wait no.. not good...

I'm curious about the MTL scouting the Kigns. Flat out worried about TO scouting the Kings... not much on TO's roster that would improve the situation. Unless they want to move JVR. :)

Yeah, the Kings kept the actual chances down, but not the zone time. Hockey being the weird game that it is, the Kings got a couple goals while being outplayed. Only a matter of time though when one team is constantly in the offensive zone, and we saw the results in the 3rd.
