GDT: Los Angeles Kings at Anaheim Ducks - February 27, 2015 - 7:00 p.m. (PST)

The ducks were absolutely pathetic the first two periods. In no way shape or form were the kings outplayed the whole game.

Yeah, I guess that was why it took over 10 minutes in the second period to get our first shot on goal.

Dude, you really are digging yourself a hole here. I found some of your comments during the game to be enlightening, but now you are acting like a pissed-off fan and not thinking logically.

I hope Sekera is still adjusting. He looked like he was struggling against the Ducks forechecking. I saw he got stuck out there on extended shifts 3 x. He got crushed a few times, too! Better get used to it. That's the West for you.

Stoll should have been gone after the 2012 Cup run, just like Richards and Greene should have been gone after 2014 but Dean has a difficult time pulling the plug on clearly declining players.

Williams is now next up on that list, and I am thinking that it is time to move on and not get stuck with another declining player and paying that guy for past accomplishments. I think Stoll is gone no matter what and the Kings have a decision on RR who has played well but is in his mid 30's.

Sloppy with the lead. Let's hope we're not creating a new row of one color.

I'm not sure about Sekera being an upgrade to what we already have. To be honest, reminds me a lot of Bodnarchuck. Bods might even be b....... Ok I didn't say it. I'll be fair for now, but I'm not convinced Sekera is the answer. It's probably worth the try though, so let's keep our fingers crossed. but it's a very difficult time to join a club. Sure, he's got 8 yrs or so experience, but with Buffalo and Carolina. There are guys in the AHL for 8 years that have similar experience!! Ok, the whiskey is getting to me. I really think they should have given the boys in Manch more of a shot to see how it's shapes out. No not Schultz. But perhaps Miller, Bodnarchuck, Forbort, (Gravel if he were a king)! They all know the Kings system, and they'd make the transition easier. As I said a couple days ago, this isn't the time of year to experiment, so I'm not suggesting any of these other guys now, the experimental window has left the station.

Missed opportunities with Carters breakaway, and Gabby's shot to start the 3rd stand out among others. Although even if up 3-0, the way the rest of the 3rd went we'd have probably still lost.

Sekera is pro, he didn't look that bad. He made some mistakes, but no more than Doughty made tonight.

What's Drew's excuse ? he knows the Kings system.

Kopitar tonight :( he just got absolutely owned by Kesler. Kopitar is a minus Five against Kesler in two games so far this season.

Doesn't matter how many shots you have when you have the lead and the other team isn't generating anything either.

We had 5 shots in the 2nd period. The Ducks had 12. On top of that they generated better opportunities the 2nd half of the game.

According to NHL.com the Kings had 25 hits while the Ducks had 52. We had 27 faceoff wins to their 37. We had 3 takeaways to their 8. We had 8 blocked shots to their 18. Yes, we were outplayed most of the game.

DL will burst into hysterics when Kopi's agent asks for that type of money. You know Deano is going to pull out his bar graphs, pie charts, line charts and bring up baseball.

The problem is, when you drastically overpay players or show loyalty to other players then Kopitar is going to expect the same. And as far as Dean's graphs and charts, show me any kind of metric that said re-signing Greene and bringing back Minus Mike was an optimal move. I'm sorry but if you are going to go to bat financially for your #6 d-man and fourth line center you better expect that the #1 center will be looking for the same treatment. We don't know what Kopi's mindset is, maybe he does take a discount but if he wanted to he could have this team by the balls. If Kopitar leaves after next season the Kings cup chances leave with him, the Kings would have the worst centers in the NHL.

The Greene contract boggles the mine but who am I to question a two-time Stanley Cup winning GM? I thought they knew something I didn't, but it does appear that Lombardi has his weaknesses...he is loyal to guys who have produced in the past, and that has ****ed us with Richards and with Greene.

I agree, got to let Stoll walk. I would resign RR though because he has clearly demonstrated he is getting better as he is getting older...this is his best season of the three he has been with the Kings by far.

Please scratch greene and put mcbain in for ****s sakes

No you didn't :)

I thought the Ducks were physically dominant for most of the game, their forecheck put our D under heaps of pressure.

Is it just me or does gabby seem to muff things quite a bit when trying to clear our zone along the boards, he gets pressured and hands it over quite a bit :dunno: Clifford and King do a better job of absorbing the pressure and passing it out.

Looked uncomfortable but had his moments. Overshot some passes. Good on the boards like Voynov with positionin and leverage. Just didn't know where to be in our system so stayed in the front of the net which was a problem because it forced Regehr out to the corners. Not a good start but couldn't expect much going up against the Ducks when the whole team was a tire fire much of the night.

Good at straddling the line a la Quincey on the PP.

I agree with how you describe this, especially on where to be in the system. He really looked lost out there. Standing around to compensate. Left regheer to try to get to more loose pucks than he'd like to chase down. Can only get better after this, that is for sure.

That was the right result. The Kings looked like they played two games this morning, let alone one last night. Just no skating, reaching for everything. Lucky to be up 2-0.

Lewis - 7 ES goals
Kopitar - 6 ES goals
Richards - 4 ES goals
Nolan - 4 ES goals

Ouch, not pretty.

I'd argue Stoll was one of the biggest individual factor in the Kings turning it around against the Sharks in 2014 so I disagree with you there. Still, his play this season is unacceptable and he could very well be playing himself out of an extension. Williams hasn't been great either. Lewis is the most effective 5 on 5 guy in all three zones on that line, that's saying something.

Sekera will be fine. He didn't have a great game, but it's only one game. Let's see how he works out in the coming days and weeks before we judge the guy.

That is what I gathered as well. Greene has been really bad since A-Mart went down.

Greene has always been slow, but with A-Mart out Greene is just getting exposed like crazy.

DL just has a heck of a time parting with ones who've done such a good job over the years. When their play declines, he hangs onto these guys just way too long. Greene had his better days with the team, as did Stoll. It's time for DL to set emotions aside and do what's best for the team. Not to mention, put the arm chair gm's mind at rest.

Yup. Dean should definitely move Greene and Stoll. I doubt it happens but it should. It will if Dean realizes the mistake. He's an awesome GM but nobody's perfect. RR should stay and how much he was missed when he was injured recently shows why. He brings a lot of grit the defense needs.
