PPS: Since someone mentioned the Canadiens have been scouting the LA Kings, I wonder what the Canadiens have in mind.

It has been mentioned a lot here in Montreal that the Habs would be in need of an addition on D and one one the offensive side. Smith-Pelly could have been the O, as for the D I guess Bergevin thinks that with the addition of Sekera, the Kings could trade a D (McBain?).

Rumors, rumors...

BTW, did not watch the game last night. How was Jones? Was a little bit surprise that is was Quick against Ottawa and Jones against the Ducks. Thought it would of be the reverse...

Not worried. Doughty and Muzzin dominated the game when they were on the ice

Jarret Stoll's last 30 games played.

3G 1A 4P -3.

That's worse than Trevor Lewis status. Stoll even receives PP time.

Jarret Stoll- the new Mike Richards. At least Sutter's favorite son was given every chance to succeed. Whatever happened to our so called strength down center? Now we're looking to trade for a veteran centerman?

That's predicated more on Kopitar and Carter than whoever the other two are. If those two are doing their thing, Stoll is a luxury the Kings can afford. As was Richards last year.

Kopitar had a 5 game stretch where he had 12 points. In his other 53 games this year, he's got 10 goals and 33 points. Carter, in the two stretches where either version of the 70's line was basically unstoppable, had 9 goals and 22 points in 13 games. In his other 48 games, he's got 9 goals and 24 points.

10 goals in 53 games is 15.47 over 82 games. 9 goals in 48 games is 15.38 over 82 games. Obviously Carter isn't going to score 9 goals every 13 games, but the rate of production from the top two centers on this team has been a little underwhelming most of the time.

On the road last year, Kopitar and Carter were 1st and 2nd on the team in goals and points. This season, 6th and 8th on the team in road points. Kopitar has as many road goals as Stoll, Clifford, and McBain, one more than McNabb and Nolan, one fewer than King, and half as many as Lewis and Richards, and Richards is still in the AHL.

Time to call up Richards. The only reason there is so much heat on this guy is because for the $5 million plus that he makes a year, he does not play up to his salary. But, if we are stuck with his salary, he is certainly better than other $2.5-3 million dollar centermen.

How did Sekera look? Stoll is a bad hockey player. There's no way Lombardi re-signs him, right?????? (Someone please tell me he's not coming back).

Thank you for the GWG in OT vs Vancouver in 2012 Jarrett, but this is a "what have you done for me lately league". Time to move on. Your girlfriend is still a rocket, though.

I'm just worried that Dean is going to let his loyalty blind him and end up resigning Stoll, even though he is the worst forward on the ice most nights.

Dean Lombardi's middle name is loyalty. He's scared to let go & it really is one of his worst traits. The guy is a genius & a legend but wow he really does not know when it's to move on.

If the Kings win another Cup, I guarantee it. And I wouldn't be mad.

Oh give me a break. How do you guys say such ridiculous stuff? You know him personally?

Huh? Dustin Penner, Mike Richards, Matt Greene amongst many, many others. He simply does not know when to move on from players. I'm not saying it from a personal standpoint, I'm saying it from a business standpoint. The guy simply does not know when it's time to move on from players. What does that have anything to do with me knowing him personally lol

I don't think it was such a ridiculous statement. What happened last June with regards to player decisions had no basis in on ice production either in the present or the future and everything to do with loyalty. Lombardi even hinted at it saying loyalty is a two-way street and the team owed it to those guys(paraphrase), and I think that is where a lot of the issue is, the Kings potentially handicapped their future potential to win to take care of washed up players who are contributing very little to the team in Greene and Stoll or in the case of Richards contributing nothing.

Spot on. I couldn't have said it any better. He said those exact words about loyalty being a two way street when the whole Mike Richards on waivers thing went down. If that's not proof that DL is all about loyalty before SMART business decisions, I dunno what is. After we won in 2012, I thought it was Dustin Penner's time to move on and for us to look elsewhere for a LW2. Nope, brought him back for another year. I thought this summer it was a no-brainer to buy out Mike Richards, nope let's keep him. Don't even get me started on Matt Greene. Lombardi has strapped the Kings financially with his "loyalty". Like I said, the man is a legend & a genius but one of his worst traits is not being able to let go. That's not a ridiculous statement at all.

This team is currently on the best three year streak in an otherwise trash history. Don't act you guys wouldn't be loyal to this group that has been together for a while. "They're Stanley Cup champions and they deserve to be together until they prove they aren't." That was his quote last Spring. Well, they're still Stanley Cup champs, so...

The whole 'if it's not broke don't fix it' deal.

Dustin Penner signed a one year deal, give me a break. Maybe you didn't watch the playoffs last year, but Matt Greene was an absolute animal and played awesome hockey (how many times do I have to say this?!?). His deal is hardly a backbreaker. I won't even talk about Mike Richards because I've made my position on that known for the last six months and I'm honestly sick of hearing and reading about the guy. I hope he's traded just so we don't have to keep talking about this perpetual ********. So tired of even seeing his name.

If the Kings win the Cup this year you better buckle up because I GUARANTEE Stoll is re-signed.

Remember the good old days when the Kings used to be unbeatable when having a lead going into the 3rd period? Willie Mitchell & Rob Scuderi, where art thou?

IF Stoll is re-signed (Cup or not) that will prove everything I just said about him not being able to move on. I wonder what Lombardi would've done if he was in Dale Tallon/Stan Bowman's shoes after the Blackhawks won the first cup.

His roster is still intact and has won 2 in 3.

If he re-signed WM everyone would complain that he overpaid and now the Kings can't add any other players (great transition into MR). How many on here shredded WM last year during the regular season? Many. Same happened to Scuderi. He got overpaid and last I checked was a healthy scratch.

Small. He looks smaller than Muzzin.

I don't see how he's going to bump anyone off the puck or take someone out. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Lots of people are smaller than Muzzin. He looked smaller than Voynov/Martinez though, which is okay because that's more his game--leverage and inside position. I'm good with that because it means you take the puck. He's not going to take hardly anyone out, get used to that idea.

Okay--Penner is gone, Richards is in the minors, and Matt Greene's issues are overblown since he's a #6-#7 defenseman. Scuderi walked, Mitchell walked. Anyone remember who we were icing before King and Nolan? I agree with your overall point, but let's not pretend he's just ignoring the roster.

And really, we'll see less loyalty should we not win a cup this year imo. I'm with DL that you can't really blow up the roster after a cup almost no matter what; I can see why people disagree with that but I'd expect most to understand that.

But it is starting to look broken this season. Stoll and Greene especially.

I know they are both big voices in the locker room but they just aren't good hockey players anymore. The play dies whenver it hits Stoll's stick and he's not elite in the faceoff circle like he used to be. Greene is too slow and can't keep up with the play or clear the crease down low while getting stuck in his own zone nearly every shift.

No matter what happens this off-season, there needs to be some retooling. We need a new 3C, whether Shore can move up and take that spot and Weal comes up, or if we look in free agency.

Depending on Voynov I think one more defenseman this offseason might be necessary. McBain has probably played himself into a better ccontract and won't stick around. I think Forbort is ready to take that spot if Voynov doesn't come back.

Greene and Stoll helped change the culture of this team, but right now they are hurting more than they are helping. It's time to move on and get more speed and skill into the lineup.
