News Article: Live Dubas presser

With the depth that was added to our prospect pool over the last 6 months (Hallander + 12 draft picks), I'd rather use depth over top quality if possible for the other team involved.

Essentially would rather package two B prospects (ex: Hirvonen + Abramov) than trade one of the big 4. I think the big 4 are critical going forward and three of them already have NHL experience. I don't mind hurting the depth if it means quality over quantity.

I'd agree. Though you need get the other side of the trade to agree too

I don't know if Dubas has anything cooking right now but my hunch - caveat: my hunch is seldom right - is that he moves Robertson + 1st for an impact forward. Don't know who, but a rental and the type of player Torts would love to have ... or, not speculating, hate to give up.
There's no one on the market worth Roberston + a 1st. Mark Stone got less than that IIRC

Dubas with the presser saying he'd move top prospects timed with his boy writing a piece to justify moving top prospects probably means Dubie is about to make a deal and wants to get in front of the possible blowback for overpaying for what he's trying to bring in .
What written piece bro? I need to read that puppy

Well this is quite the jump.

We gotta go for it this year ... trade every one of our 2021 picks ... there is nothing in this draft except Power and it is guaranteed now we can't get him ... trade Robertson or whoever if it means winning Cup this year ... folks we are in da north and can advance to semis by beating Habs and Jets ... think about that one ... this is a rare opportunity ... next year we gotta fight Bruins and Tampa and Florida again just to get out of our division man ... think about it ... i guess us older guys see it clearer ... we want another Cup

Somebody asked him if he was willing to move a top prospect. Do you think that was just a plant by Dubas?

Mark Stone was traded and signed immediately for the cost of Brannstrom + 2nd (plus Lindberg who's NHL career finished that summer). We're not hunting for Mark Stone level players, so our top prospects probably aren't getting moved. I'm sure Dubas would be willing to trade any guy on the team if the right deal came along, but he's not going to trade Liljegren for Hall just for the lulz of it.

There is plenty in this draft, though it's not the quality of other drafts for sure. Happy to pay some futures, for a chance though. Wish we were addressing goaltending though.

Bit of Column A and probably also drumming up some business. Doing his job basically.

Hall at 50% retention would come the closest, I think.

If he was extended through next year maybe, Hall at 4 mil for just this season has maybe 2-3 teams bidding for him with guys like Granlund/Palimeri as good consolation prizes.

I don’t think that’s true. There will probably be a fair share of draft day steals because a lot of these kids haven’t had the stage to flash their talent. Another argument could be made that a lot of these kids will probably be stunted but someone will get something special.

I'm not sure who I am most interested in terms of the names we have heard.

I think for this player, I value PK/two-way ability 50%, skill 35% and sandpaper 15%.

Sounds to me like Foligno or Jenner. Really sounds like a lot of the players mentioned, other than Hall.

Maybe somewhere in world sure could be something but this draft is worst all time ever in G and O world ...

next year there is da next one in Wright and if we could ever do a deal for Power it would set us up for a Cup because he is exactly what we need .. but these are DREAMS ... 2022 will be a rock star draft even better than 2020 in Ontario also very very deep ... it is 3 rounds deep

Great names.

Hall makes no sense, as he's too expensive and always seems to make his teams worse. I don't think Rakell gets traded at all. And Eric Staal doesn't fit on the wing.

Granlund and Palmieri would be my choices, if they're adding a winger. Both really good options, and they should be in our "1st rounder ish" price range.

Who, we are both from Ontario, outside Power there is NOTHING ... trying to find some gem somewhere in Finland is next to impossible ... sure it may be possible but with no travel and no vision man i'd say it is finding a diamond in a haystack man
