It is a good one eh? I predict that will happen because Oilers don't have a number 1 goalie. Good luck though 😅

You said (to someone else):
You seem to like trolling Canucks fans. Can't wait to see the Oilers out in the 1st round lol

It was a good one cause it was such an original and funny comment. Sheer genius. LOL But we are fans, so I get it.

Though I would rather be laughed at for losing in the playoffs than be laughed at for never even getting there.

Good luck to you too.

Not on a center list.

Yeah, but it you Google "draisaitl position" it turns out he is actually Wayne Gretzky ;)

1. McDavid
2. MacKinnon
3. Matthews
4. Draisaitl
5. Pettersson
6. Thompson
7. Hughes
8. Crosby
9. Bergeron
10. Point
This list seems pretty spot on. Maybe Drai should be above Matthews, but I'm fine with Matthews at 3.

My gut was Pettersson is too high, but I admittedly haven't been paying super close attention to the Canucks and didn't realize he was having such a big year.

Yeah, I can't find anything really wrong with this list.

Elias Pettersson's 5v5 individual shooting percentage is currently aligned with the rest of his career

Now, it is fair to say that Pettersson may experience slight 5v5 points regression due to oish%. However, he also has had very low luck on the power play which could also counter the 5v5 points regression when his PP pts regress back to the mean. So all in all, I am not convinced about this "huge regression" you are talking about.

You are looking at raw on-ice metrics to be fair. When looking at any analytics that attempts to isolate one's on-ice impact from his teammates. Pettersson fairs a lot better and rapm numbers from both EvolvingHockey and Jfresh indicate that Pettersson does indeed tilts the ice.
Nicely summarized. It’s disingenuous to just look at even strength shooting percentage and ignore how unlucky he’s been on the PP with only two goals and a ridiculously low shooting percentage.
Overall percentage wise he looks fine and in line with his career. It just illustrates how a single stat can be taken out of context to make any argument you want.

I love the Pettersson love and the Pettersson slander

Finally getting the discussion he deserves. Yes, he's been that good this year. He's finally found a linemate in Kuzmenko who can keep up with him and he could hit 100 points. Also a penalty kill demon. Elite reads and short handed threat.

Bergeron shouldn't be top 10 because "his offense having fallen off"?

You do understand that Bergeron is probably going to win another Selke this year?

I really wish people would stop rating players simply on goals/assists and more on their overall game. Bergeron might not put up ppg #'s this year, at 37 y/o, but he is still the complete package at center.

He completely deserves to be on any list of #10 centers.....and high on that list.
Bergeron is a better C than McDavid. McDavid might be a better player but no way in hell he's a better C

No.

12.79% 5v5 on-ice shooting percentage is not sustainable.

Regression incoming next season.
Whatever regression will be made up or improvement on the Powerplay where he sits 75th in the league but ofc you'll leave that out.

Bergeron is on pace for just over 60 points this season. Time to let it go, guys, he is no longer a top 10 center let alone a top 5 (as I've seen on some lists).

Not on a center list.
He's not a f***ing center!!

Before somebody screams at me about not watching games, his most common even strength linemates this year are Zach Hyman and noted center Connor McDavid. It's literally a counting stat. He plays on a line where he's a winger most of his minutes.

Hyman-McDavid-Draisaitl ranks 9th among three-player combos that have scored the most even strength goals this year.

Over the last three years, he's played like 400 more even strength minutes with noted ass center Connor McDavid (except Zach Hyman) than anybody else.

I don't think being bad defensively excludes one from being a center because defense is a boondoggle anyway. I think being a winger excludes one from being a center.
