I was one arguing for Swayman/Vladar... But anointing neither of the "the starter". Battle for starts keeping them both fresh/active and competitive.

Ullmark was much better tonight. Much more confident coming out to challenge shooters and more square to the shooter than he was in preseason. Still looks awfully awkward at times though and still saw some shots go through him. Positive trajectory overall.

I get that logic. I understand the argument. In my head though - that's the ideal - and you simply can't plan around best case scenarios.
I have no idea if Ullmark is The Guy - just happy they brought in someone they thought could/would be a #1 starter.
No idea if Swayman is going to be all that and a bag of chips either.
It's a tough slough and you're best bet is having a solid veteran and an upcoming kid that shows promise. It challenges the vet while giving the yute enough time to round out his game and not be in the spotlight all the time.

Old management idiom:

Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

p.s. bolded. I don't think that works as well with young goalies as it does with other positions. I've seen too many goalies ruined when the teams start playing mind-games with them. Fresh, active and competitive aren't the keys. Young goalies need support.

We need a goalie thread, but i'll have to pay this here until we get one.

This is real bad.

Now do a chart for secondary scoring by team....:naughty:

Look, Ullmark long term was a f***ing reach and a half, and it looks to be a bad miss. I like the guy's size, but he moves like a lumbering oaf with no urgency or agility and gives up way too many bad rebounds from what I've witnessed. I didn't get the infatuation Sweeney had when he signed him, and it looks even shittier now that he's playing games for the team. He's a guy that on paper sounds great, but when you see him play it doesn't translate.
