Damn you to hell......

I did this a while back and swore I would never go in that dark and cold cave again. And then along comes @VanIsle who says "hey, wanna see a scary movie?" and I cannot resist.

So once again, I will relive the horror that was the gaps between guys like Cheevers/Lemelin/Moog/Rask/Thomas. Yes there were some other bright spots in there, but in general that is a scary neighborhood.

Sweeney should probably actually ask sometimes Cassidy's opinion on what the team needs. Cassidy pretty much turned Moore and Backes into bench warmers as soon as he could and now their brand new 5 million dollar full NMC goalie can't get starts over a rookie.

horrible contract when the Bruins could have saved immensely at goal. Typical Sweeney
I will track it down on HF when I get a chance but at the end of season entering FA but I had 4/20 Ullmark as my number one target

It’s a good thing hockey is my third sport or I’d be in trouble

going to search HF during Braves Dodgers game to see what people said if anything when I proposed that lol

There were a few lean years, but I bet the Bruins have been one of the overall best goaltending teams over the past 40 years.

There are a few poor years of Casey, Lacher and Shields in there but nothing super painful for 5 years or a decade.

how much did the blues goalie get paid when he won a cup.

At least be fair here and look at how much the goalies got paid on every other cup winner for the past decade: Holtby, Vasilevsky, MAF, Crawford, Quick, Thomas. Most of them made more than Ullmark. Binnington was an anomaly, not a model the Bruins should have followed.

Ullmark shoud be ok but you can get a guy like that for way less

Really couldn't rely on 2 rookie goalies to carry the load. The contract might be bigger than we wanted and needed but he was projected to be a solid goalie and a vet presence. Looks bad after preseason but give him some time before we hit the panic button.

Folks

it’s called Capfriendly

Binghamton 6/36 $6
Matt Murray 4/25 $6.25 M
Bobrovsky 8/80 $10 M
Jones 6/34,500 5,75 M

I could go another 10 but my dog is barking her head off

4/20 bad lol you silly Gooses just don’t get it but that’s ok I love your passion

Go Bruins

Who are your comparables for him? We did the Dobby/Halak level thing and neither guy could handle the starter role. That's what you get for way less, and I don't think anyone here would have been rejoicing if the Bruins had re-upped Halak and decided to go with him and Swayman.

What would of been if they kept Dryden and Parent and even Billy Ranford. I hated the Ranford trade at the time, I became a moog fan but Ranford for me had proven he was the real deal and Harry didn't lose to many deals but he lost that one.

Bruins would have had more cups and the fans probably would have complained just as much as they do now. haha.

I look back and see very good goaltending, if not great in comparison to others.

Without question, but I mean you can play the but game and what if game, forever and it isn't going to change history, but...

Gave up Courtnall in the deal, too, IIRC
Well he only had 32 goals at the time prorated to 42 and was with Neely unstoppable

but they were party boys and Vancouver buddies

that trade was as much to remove Courtnall from Neely

absolute garbage and if HF was around it would have been called out

I was so f***ing mad

Courtnall goes on to score 367 goals

Sinden should have been fired on the spot

They are saving in goal. They went from 9.25M AAV to 5.9M AAV in net. How are people really complaining about Ullmark when he hasn’t played a game yet.

I kind of suspect that if Sweeney had signed a couple of tough guys in the off-season to include a bruiser on defense, the Ullmark signing would not be so "controversial."
