Toronto would want a whole lot more than just Ullmark, forwards as well and maybe picks/prospects. They want a haul for Marner and will get it from a team with cap space to burn in need of offense and regular season success to sell seats.

Boston would have to send pieces to Toronto that would improve them tremendously while we would get a project player who has problems with shying from physical play and gets pushed to the perimeter in the post season.
Not good for Boston in any way for both them and improving their division rivals.
Yes, and we already have 2 D men who are scared to death of contact, so we don't need more of that!

I actually love Ulmark. I know everyone wants Swayman to be the future net minder for this organization, and he certainly took the lead for that title with his playoff performance, but I’m excited Linus wants a revenge tour - let these guys battle it out again next season. We have the cap space to address other areas for now. Best goalie tandem in the league is a good problem to have. Never know who can get injured. If Linus starts the season playing lights out, it will bring his value back up and maybe he waives his no trade at the deadline if Swayman keeps it up. I think Linus is a little more sound and plays the puck better than Swayman but Swayman just proved he has the ice in his veins when it matters most in big games. We haven’t really seen a healthy Ulmark take the playoff reigns yet but he was just so good in 23 and parts of 24 - An 03’ Gigure performance out of him wouldn’t surprise me. Monty mismanaged the 23’ playoff goalie situation pretty bad. The most obvious one was Game 6 Swayman should’ve came in when Ulmark couldn’t shut the door.. Monty did a better job in 24’ of managing them, and Sway obviously took it and ran with it, but could’ve used a breather in that Panthers series like other commenters said. Showed some signs of getting a little gassed, but Linus didn’t do himself any favors in Game 2 when he came in mid game when it was out of hand. I wanted to see them both catch fire in the playoffs. I think that was our only chance of making a run. Just saying - the hub and others are acting like Ulmarks the Steve Shields back up goalie and thats not the case. This was the 1st year Swayman showed that he’s a true playoff goalie - does that automatically give him the future? I know he was younger, but he’s had playoff opportunities before Linus took over the net in 23’. Very happy with Swayman season and progress but want to make sure it holds up, especially if we’re giving him the 8x8.

The cap gets incredibly tight if they keep Linus. Swayman will bring their remaining cap down to about $14m. Debrusk or a Debrusk level replacement will leave the bruins with about $8m-$9m in cap space.

So they’ll have roughly $8m-$9m to spend on 3 forwards and 1 defender. Some wiggle room but really not much. At that point you’re kind of just running it back in a sense.

I’m assuming Gryz is on that list. Who do you have as the other?
I wasn't including Gryzz as I don't believe he was going to be re signed. Carlo and Lindholm are who I was referring to. If you watched the Florida series you would have seen numerous times those two threw pucks away when pressured for outright terror of contact! This is why we can't get pucks out of our zone, resulting in losses!

Interesting. I actually thought Carlo was more physical and played with a nastier edge against Florida than I'd ever seen.

And to be fair, I think I'd rather see Carlo avoid hits rather than eat the puck and absorb them. Over the years he's not protected himself well and has the concussions to prove it. I know throwing pucks away isn't ideal but he can't eat hits.

As far as Lindholm goes - I want first Bruin year Lindholm back.

I love Linus. Seems like a great guy and teammate.

I wish him the very best whatever happens.
One thing fans might want to consider is that players today are not in a vacuum. They no doubt hear and see things that are said.

Wouldn't it be ironic if Ullmark actually was trying to screw us. Not the Bruins or his teammates though. Rather, the true dumbass fans who called him Skidmark when he arrived.

For the record I don't believe it -- he's going to do what's best for him and his family whatever that turns out to be.

But maybe just maybe, if he doesn't waive to a team that we can make a deal with, those people can wonder if might have just the tiniest tiniest bit of responsibility for how things play out.

I honestly don't believe he wants to screw us. The idiots that called him names are just ignorant.

From where I sit, he is a great guy. ...plus, he is nice to me :)....and likes dogs.

He is Sway's biggest fan and always cheers him on. It looks like a real friendship, and I do believe Linus helped Sway a lot.

He will probably be gone, but if he is still here I will cheer for him.

He seems to love Boston. I know he has 2 small kids, so he has to consider what is best for them.

You are right about Carlo, I had no problem with his game this year, coming back from concussions can be long tough process and every case is different, I think when Lindholm got concussed it has affected his play. The forwards should take some responsibility for not slowing down Florida's fore check and maybe the coaching staff should have made some adjustments.

I agree Susan. I'm sure he's going to do whatever is right for him for his own reasons.

I just think it's funny that so many called him childish names relentlessly at the beginning, now want him to waive to the team that gives the Bruins the best return.

Some fans expect blind loyalty to the crest on the chest mentality from players, but show absolutely none of it to the players themselves when things might go amiss or they are in a rut.

Speaking of Lindholm… was there any reason given for his sub-par season? When McAvoy was out to start in that first year, he looked Norris-worthy. This year? Mostly meh.

Biggest upgrade they could make on the blueline is the difference between those two players.

I agree completely. I assumed the foot injury hampered him initially but that was a long time ago. Maybe it took a step or two off his stride?

He's not been terrible - or certainly not as bad as some made him out to be -- but often not much better than (as you say) mostly meh.

Not sure what issue is.
