Are players technically still allowed to train with their team if they're unsigned? I'm aware that it would be unusual to do so, but are they forbidden from training with any NHL team even if it's their own?

Not sure, but I think he is just using the facilities there and training by himself without the team.

If training with your team without a contract is forbbiden, they could just circumvent it by signing a PTO for the length of the training camp. :laugh:

Don't you pull a Panthers on us Buffalo.

Here we have a common interest. :laugh:

Perhaps they should've planned better the years leading up to it...or not signed Vatanen..who less important to the team then Lindholm..before Lindholm.

What does this have to do with my comment? A Kings fan wanted to OS Lindholm with less than 30k in cap space, so you make a comment about us signing a player who was arb. eligible before a player who wasn't...

Just trying to take an unnecessary shot at the Ducks?

Are they really that far apart? I realize Anaheim is a budget team but you can't let your best young player walk. They were very generous with the Kesler, Bieksa and Hagelin contracts so I don't know what's going on here.

He's going to have to walk for about five years before he is free. Forrest Lindholm?

This is exactly why you dont do that Ekblad contract. I know Florida was trying to be cute and get ahead of the curve on the value of Eklblads future contracts, but it is going to cause a disastrous ripple effect across the league in future RFAs

this is the kind of crap that leads to upcoming lockouts.

Players with barely a resume are getting huge bucks. Then the veteran players turn around and look at these guys and expect even more, all of this on top of a flat cap the past couple years.

Ask the Panthers if they care about other teams RFA's.

Ekblad got paid because he's a stud and will only get better.

Lindholm's about a million less, worth wise.

Clearly the panthers dont care about other teams RFAs, but when the owners gather and complain they are paying out the nose on salaries, they will likely unify at some point to police themselves and handcuff their GMs, they usually do and it usually leads to lockouts

Why are the Ducks taking so long with Lindholm? Of all the RFAs, he should take the least amount of time.

Could be internal cap issues and they cannot afford to pay the asking price;

Could be that there is a major disagreement in valuation;

Could be that they are actually in the same position as the Jets and he wants out.

Your guess is as good as mine.

What are the Ducks main needs? (let's ignore cap issues for now, as perhaps a deal could include a cap dump).

Lindholm for an elite, cost controlled goalscorer is the only trade that could work. And that trade won't be available.

Ehlers is the closest we can offer (and for God's sake, if the opportunity is there... he'd better be offered for Lindholm). He's the only one with any NHL experience of our big three.

and we'd throw in any 2 of: Stafford/Burmi/Lowry/Copp/Armia/Dano/Peluso/Thorburn/Pavelec

Hey duck fans, how long has this ownership owned the club. It seems like, the ownership doesn't want to compete with the big boys. I know they have some sort of b.s. "self imposed cap, but this is just plain stupid. I don't remember it being this difficult to get deals done for the ducks in years gone by.
