No goal is on Shesty. I can't believe people still want to point the finger at him. We're letting him get shot up for 51 shots in a playoff game, take six penalties in the game with f***ing Trouba taking three of those six, and you want to whine because a soft one gets through after he stops 49 of them.

This fan base is insufferable when it comes to the goalies. Always want them to steal games, always asking for perfection, but its the guys in front of him not gutting it out.
It wasn't even soft imo. Kucherov touched it, then made a touch pass to Palat. Even a play like that disrupts a goalie's tracking and timing.

Strome is underrated because he keeps plays alive and as a righty on a 1-3-1 PP always makes himself a decoy bumper for Mika on the cross seams coming from the right side. Chytil as lefty allows Tampa to focus on Mika a little more on those cross seams. Suggested the coaching staff put a righty there.
The only other righty forward is Reaves right? Guessing that’s not what you have in mind lol

Unless you put Copp in Panarin’s spot and Panarin in Strome’s vacated spot. Don’t know if I like that either.

I didn't say everyone sucks. I said the combinations suck.

We've relied heavily on the PP and Fox to generate offense.

Our forward don't really get anything going at all 5v5. I don't think that's even a little bit out of line to say.

The lines needed a shakeup months ago. In the case of the Panarin line, YEARS ago.
Only line that’s looked really good 5v5 is the kid line. They actually have had some decent cycling down low, generating some shots and making plays. Otherwise the PP has been a big party of our offense.

We'll see how it goes. I'm hoping for the best but ultimately just enjoying it.
I'm enjoying too but I'm still going to point out every time we lose than combos picked out of a hat would make more sense than what we have because it's been happening all season.

And they'll start next season with the same lines probably.

Right and it's a feature not a bug that their scoring goes kind of hot and then very cold, and they seem to bork at least one big chance every game.

Lafreniere and Kakko are "elite grinder" type of players and that line has a ceiling without some flair on it.

And that's fine. People fawn over the Tkachuk brothers. Guess what, the Tkachuk's really don't score that much unless they're playing with offensive stars.

If the Rangers had both they would run Tkachuk-Chytil-Tkachuk because "ZOMG they're all young!" and they would all have 45 points.

Again, if you believe the league's agenda played a role in today's game, do you similarly believe that the same thing happened in the Rangers favor against Pitt or Carolina?

If not, why not?

I'm guessing a leg muscle pull or strain.,

Literally my first line that I initially replied to you with was how I DIDN'T think it was what happened today.

I'm just calling out the pearl-clutching that it could even occur when theres clear of examples non-players effecting the outcome of a game.

You keep saying "if you believe that, you shouldn't watch".

Cool, opinion noted.

Yeah the game management of it all is what’s most infuriating. The PP Tampa got right after we scored two straight PPGs is a clear example of gsme management.

Not calling that high stock on Chytil when we’re already on the PP is game management. And that is why fans get mad. They let all crazy amounts of interference and obstruction go and then call random things when the time is right. It’s just no consistency and the obsession with game management that is so bad.
THANK YOU

After taking a drive and getting out of the house to clear my head a bit, I don't know how to feel still.

On one hand, the Rangers squandered a chance to for all intents and purposes close this one out. The team they're playing has been there before and they'll know what they need to do to get back in the series. I'm feeling very uneasy about this. Game 4 will be very telling with how this team responds. That will be even more so than today's game. Again, the first 10 minutes of the game will be critical. They need to start playing better away from home.

On the other, this team couldn't have played any worse I thought. Nothing going 5 v 5 and Vasilevsky wasn't tested at all. Piss luck on Goodrow's shot off the post, I thought that was in. Tampa needed a lot of help from the zebras even with the Rangers shooting themselves in the foot trying to give the game away themselves. Stand strong on Tuesday and overcome. Much bigger game than today's was, and hey, at least it's not a day game away. I saw today's on the schedule and pegged this as an auto loss. I'll take being up 2-1 right now with all this in mind.

Sir, you have used your deductive powers to defeat me. I admit defeat. Good day to you, sir!

Gallant just doesn’t seem to learn

how many times does Trouba need to cost us on the power play before it stops? 4-5 times? we’re up to at least 3

Vatrano is absolute ducking dogshit in his own zone. painfully stupid. yeah Kreider had a game where he didn’t give a shit either but i’m so f***ing sick of Vatrano and his idiotic plays defensively.

I said it in the main board thread, but there could be an interference or whatever call on every play. Refs do not call them all. Not even every high stick. They didn't call Trouba's elbow on Bellemore.

We are still up, game 4 is a different day.

Cooper made the adjustment, which was to get super chippy. Gallant needs to make the adjustment back
I always expected super chippy from Tampa. Them trapping us at home less so. We played their trap stupid, we should have dumped it at their end and made them carry the play. Now they could live off our crappy exits all game, especially as our forwards were tired/flat and didn't skate.

And tbh the refs tilted the game for Tampa when they needed it the most. We played like sh*t and still almost won. We are the better team but we need better from GG and better execution from everyone.

I know Kreider is frustrating but this was Kreider before Gallant decided that line should be shorthanded at even strength literally always.

We're starting to see the reasons Vatrano was a healthy scratch when we got him. On the f***ing PANTHERS - a team that got swept by the Lightning and absolutely loves forwards who rip ass when they're not scoring. That team was designed for Vatrano and they didn't want him.

As Awful as we were in the third period, just dont blow the four minute power-play and we could’ve won it. Should be Miller as the Dman for the 2nd unit, but we know GG loves his vets. So f*** trouba.

This it exactly. They didn't play well at even strength and were getting outshot, but they've won before regardless. Despite all that, they had a chance to steal the win on the special team, and they blew it.

Take a timeout! This is a critical point in a very important game. settle down the team and get their mindset right.
NOPE! Trouba struggles at the blueline at times taking hard passes, he blew it, no doubt about it. He was having a rough game.

I also think that they kept trying to open the game up into a track meet, maybe too eagerly without minding their own end of the rink. While the forwards did manage to even up the Bolts' zone entries 3 on 3 most of the time, I just feel that the own-zone mindfulness wasn't there today.

Well, lots of players had shit games today. Trouba, of course. Panarin also. Zibanejad, Kreider, and Vatrano seemed to spend every ES minute in their own zone.

But with all that being said,
(1) We still could have won this game
(2) We are still up 2-1 in the series
(3) Tuesday’s game is still going to start 0-0

This is one loss, regardless of how it happened. Look forward to Tuesday and getting back on track.

It took Tampa throwing everything they had at us and playing dirty against our goalie to squeak out a one goal win in the last minute. Carolina impressed me way more and was much scarier to play then Tampa has been. Put this one behind us and win Game 4 because the Rangers are just better than Tampa. They won the last 2 Cups, big f***in deal. That’s in the past and has no bearing at all on this series. Stay disciplined and we win this series in 5.
