Post-Game Talk: Lightning III

He's still given responsibility of a number 1 D when he should be sheltered a lot more (second pairing minutes and second PK). As others have said, he shouldn't ever be on the PP. Personally would just put Fox out for the entire powerplay if he's rested and when not, play Miller instead.

Trouba is a solid player, and has played a critical role in helping the NYR advance to where they are right now.

His physical contributions cannot be overlooked as a necessary element to advancing in post season. I'm really surprised at the overall "hate" this guy gets. But, this reveals more about the poster than the actual player.

That said... i've seen Trouba struggle in games before, and it's not pretty. His mistakes are costly and usually fatal because of the role he is put in. I'd like to see the pass that he blew on that 4 min PP. The Rangers are guilty of overpassing with the man advantage. From what I can remember... that was both a very hard pass at the blueline... and one that Trouba shouldn't have been receiving at that moment.

Honestly, McD and Maroon get my vote!

And before someone comes at me with that "former Ranger" spiel, that dickhead shoved a Ranger into goal, likes to mouth off and hit us up high when Maroon and the refs are between him, and he was the reason why Vatrano crashed into Vasi.

Its good that Strome will be back, people dump on him but he usually leads the forecheck on that line. Goodrow just didnt seem to be able to get there quick enough even if i like the guy he isn't a top 6 player
Imo. I was thinking Copp might be the Strome replacement but it says a lot that when he went down that Copp never moved to center. You add Kravtsov to the equation and Its gonna be an interesting offseason

What is the deal with the NHL and the goalie interference call on the breakaway?

If the player runs over a goalie on breakaway without being impeded by the opposition.... it's a penalty.
Similar to what TB was doing yesterday

It's like the officials just started seeing breakaways in hockey this playoffs??

Now the calls seems to be that on the breakaway, if the opposing defenseman loses the forward, his only recourse seems to be to push the opposition into his own goalie, which results in a penalty on the forward/disallowed goal.

????

Well saying "some in every fanbase thinks their team is getting jobbed" is classic anecdotal evidence and is not really a counter argument to what I'm saying. There can be two things in play here that are not contradictory:

1) That fans tend to over-gripe about small things that are probably not rigged, and

2) that there is unquestionably some amount of bias and/or corruption, even if not ordained institutionally, that seeps into officiating.

As I sit here I am not claiming that the Tampa Bay game 3 was rigged with any evidence.

I am saying, it is beyond rational belief that there is not some game fixing on some level and thus if a poster wants to have a discussion about it, the board police don't need to pretend that poster is a lunatic for bringing it up and declare that he should never watch the games again.

This is why Gallant doesnt go into the locker room immediately AFTER a game. It doesnt do any GOOD.
We should do the same here.
Instead of spewing the "Trouba sucks, And things of that nature."
out of anger or disappointment, directed at the Rangers, (btw a team those same people were handing out accolades and much LOVE just the other day to)
We lost. SO! It happens, Tampa gets paid as well. THEY barely did their job at HOME and we "could have and probably should have won. They played a good enough road game against the champs and NEARLY beat them when they were desperate as hell and we didn't play well.
What does that tell you?
Not to worry, they will feel somewhat cheated by bypassing quite the opportunity. Just regroup, and win game 4. We're good.

He's NOT our friend anymore, he is the enemy. No matter how much love and respect any of us have for the guy, make no mistake.....he is treating us like the enemy as well.
Winning 2 cups seems to have changed him a bit. Seems really SMUG and holier than thou.
Maybe he's pissed that we didn't get MUCH BETTER in return for him especially. Yeah Mac, we wuz robbed.

I don't know, after the whole Tim Donaghy incident, you can't tell me that just thinking it is equivalent to wearing a tinfoil hat.

There were infractions much worse than the Trouba 'hold' that went uncalled in the first and second periods, yet with the Rangers leading 2 PP goals to 1, you absolutely knew Tampa was going to get their shot at evening it up.

I'm not saying they're all corrupt, but makeup calls and evening things out 100% enter their heads. There is no other explanation for letting them play and then inexplicably making a very weak call for the team trailing.

Oh the 2nd of the 3 penalties against Trouba was a phantom garbo Penguins life-line esque call. The GI one against Vatrano was also bad.

Though if Trouba doesn't take the first penalty (which WAS legit), it probably doesn't matter.

Plus we had a 4 min PP at the end of the game. We could have and should have iced it there. Refs made some bad calls, fine. Not the reason the Rangers lost.

Everyone would have signed up to be in this spot prior to the series.

But when you are up 2-0 in the second period and then you lose 3-2 when you had a clear opportunity to practically ice the series and go to the Cup Finals, and when you can see things that could have been done differently that probably would have changed how the game played out, you can understand why people would be irate.

No. People getting pissy and overreacting after one game after they seen the team come back over and over is just silly.

Cannot understand how anyone can enjoy a live hockey game to the fullest AND text their posts.
PGT's are fine the day/night after. People are too angry/emotional/drunk/disenchanted and spew utter nonsense.
It's negative, unfair to all that are reading and more importantly unfair to the players that normally give so much enjoyment.
Sure I am unhappy with losses, especially losses that seem like they don't give a hoot. Doesn't happen often, and I don't ever wanna be labeled a hypocrite, which is what is going on here, all to often. Maybe my definition of a fan is different than others.
Sorry if this hurts someone's feelings or sounds degrading.
