Frustration already starting to set in in Tampa...
i never saw something like this before. i sort of feel bad for Nick Paul there lol. he was just doing his media obligations and then gets yanked abruptly.
i also have been browsing a few teams' boards because i wanted to get an idea of how other teams perceive the Rangers at this point. i'll have to give some credit to them because the majority of them are actually giving the Rangers some credit now. what's amusing though is what they think is good about our team. it reminds me of the adage "the grass is greener on the other side".
Senators - said they we have a tough team and are the only gritty team left. they love how we responded to Wilson last season and how we addressed that issue with getting the appropriate players. they think it's paying off immensely. their fans are envious of this. and a bunch of them still reference how bad the Brassard for Zib trade was for them. lol.
Leafs - love how we take the shot and aren't afraid to throw pucks at the net. said that unlike them, we aren't overcomplicating our scoring chances with cute passing for highlight reels. if we see a shooting lane we take it with no hesitation. they're envious of this and wish that their team played more like this.
Canadians - love the admixture of our team and front office moves. (they obviously credit a lot of it to Gorton but also mentioned how Drury has made the most impactful TDL acquisitions)
Oilers - think we have a lethal offense
Bruins - it's the coming out party for ALL of our youth
Panthers - Gallant is putting on a masterclass
it's just funny how outside perspectives can be wildly different than the insider's perspective sometimes.
Regardless of what happens, the only real issue i had before this series started was seeing other teams say that TBL was just going to steamroll us in four. Really? I have no problem giving TBL immense credit and respect but this was always going to be a competitive series from our side at this point. I just couldn't understand the posters saying that we wouldn't even put up a fight. that was just flat out dishonest hyperbole for the sake of drama. c'mon now. it was always going to be competitive at the very least.
