I liked that Gallant really shortened the bench at the end and went with 6 forwards and 4 defensemen for the last few minutes, but Strome should not be among the top 6 defensive forwards. There was no forward help on the second Tampa goal.

Kreider-Zibanejad-Kakko
Motte-Goodrow-Copp

I get that you would want to have 2 faceoff options on each line, but Kreider took more draws than Copp this year and was better than Strome in all zones. He’s a legitimate faceoff option.

Of all the kids, benching Kakko in the name of needing more defense is just baffling.

Fun fact: That episode of South Park ("Scott Tenorman Must Die"--where Cartman kill's that kid's parents, cooks them into chili, and tricks him into eating his own parents) is based on Shakespeare's play, Titus Andronicus. :)

Was it that? Or was it that the 4th line was so f***ing unbelievably unplayable with Rooney on it that Gallant was trying to put a responsible guy in that line in Kakko while seeing if Motte could play up.

Obvi it sucked. But the fact that as soon as Goodrow came back, KK got bumped up makes me believe that he wasn’t being punished as much as it was a balance thing that went wrong

I don’t understand this. Pitt rested Crosby in game 6 because they were so cocky that they would win. Crosby passed protocol. He was eligible. They chose not to play their best player because they thought they would win in 6 at home without him.

They deserve to lose for that decision alone.

What a win, this team...

I know chincy stuff isn't getting called but some of the shit Tampa got away with in the 3rd was mind boggling. Like, there were a couple of very bad plays there in that last frame with no whistle. That's bullshit.

* thnx to @Uninstaaled - I get the stuff not called each way, yes we got away with stuff too - but there were a couple of blatant calls I feel we'd be in the box for.

Oh man this beer is tasty tonight.

Hedman looks lost out there. Or is it we are just making him look silly. This is his second minus 2 performance.

He led the Bolts this year with a plus 26.

Watching the highlights, Hedman’s a statue right now. Kucherov too, he ended the game with the careless turnover before Mika’s snipe. They better hope going home sparks them, or they’re dead

We got away with a few too. Not as many as Tampa but quite a few (One by Fox that was VERY clear.)

100% and my fault for not putting that in there - I meant beyond the stuff that wasn't called, both ways, there were a couple of really bad plays. (especially considering how they started us off for the game)

So, how long before we start seeing fans of other teams make trade threads for Miller, Kakko and Chytil? We already get a Laf to Montreal thread every other week, but we'll probably see more of those too.
true. it will happen. maybe slowly but still surely. the ones that bother me the most is when Canucks fans try to shove J.T. Miller down our throats or Blackhawks fans try to do the same with Patrick Kane.

They always target our young players. This is a typical trend now. Teams that have the expiring veteran and thus classically are known as the "seller" now actually act like the "buyer" by going prospect shopping. Their aging veteran is like a form of currency and they want to cash out with that veteran. When you see teams that have the expiring veteran making all of the trade proposals, that signals how desperate they are and now are acting more like a "buyer" than the "seller".

At least if you want to target one of our young players, trade us a young player back. I can't stand these trade proposals where these other teams try to jam an expiring veteran down our throats for our young players. I could at least understand a young player for young player swap but not these lazy, low IQ and unrealistic proposals where we send off our young players that are now becoming bonafide roster players for us, in exchange for risky, expensive, aging and unnecessary veterans. Seriously... The archetype of trading young players for an expiring veteran has its place, but the Rangers were never really in that position. Those teams need to go and pester older teams that are more in desperation mode for "win now".

Re-watching the game on ESPN app on AppleTV after getting back from MSG, was the sound really crappy? Whenever Chicken Parm Ferraro speaks, he sounds like the Max Headroom signal hijacking video. Did this happen during the live feed?

Tbf outside of Vasilevsky, Point is arguably their most irreplaceable player. Really changes their whole lineup. Would be equivalent to us losing Zibanejad
Agreed...but it doesn't matter. During the regular season you look at the reasons why your team wins as a predictor of how many more of those wins you might get. This is logical and interesting.

Now that shit is out the window. It doesn't matter who they are missing, how you looked, what your advanced stats were, how some now missing "fans" are doing in their fantasy asset management leagues...

It's just wins. The reasons don't matter anymore.

"Hurricanes in 3 against the winner of this series."

"Lightning in 3 against the winner of this series."
No one expected this. I certainly didn’t. But all the puffy sneering dismissive eulogies from ranger haters…it’s a nice bonus :)

Amazing set up to Laf who hit the post?

No sweat, just gonna ruin Rutta's life and set up Kakko for one 10 seconds later.
I think Laf hit the post like three times today. So many highlights.

Not sure if you guys heard or saw this mentioned anywhere, but someone at some point said Tampa may have had some rust to overcome. Well tonight they had a can of whoop-ass to overcome as well.

Props to those in attendance, sounded like the building was rocking. Wish I was there.

The Rangers seem to be playing better and the opponent seems to be playing worse each series.

Adam Fox. Wow. I was a critic during the Pittsburgh series, but he’s been absolutely dominant the last four games.

Can you imagine a Fox/McDonagh pairing?

We could have scored so much more tonight. Vasi looks very mortal right now.

Great job staying out of the box tonight. Certainly helps that we had the puck most of the game.

If you get a chance, check out the Devil and Icelander boards. The angst is delicious. There is always a qualifying reason why we didn’t deserve the win. Like tonight we only beat the SECOND best goalie in the world, so it doesn’t really count.

I like these announcers. Sue me.

I thought for a second Emily Kaplan was going to make Kaapo cry too.

IGOR!!!
