we should have left him in Hartford to continue to play well and develop. no reason we couldn't bring up Holland or Fogarty to play 8 mins on the 4th line. should have left him alone. was really playing well. having said that. he's in Howden's rear view and probably always will be. He's passed him on the depth chart. He's going to end up a third line winger here. its fine I've come to terms with it. he's a nasty player to play against and I think he's the type that steps up in playoffs wears a C the right way and will put up some points. prob a legit 40 pt winger with intangibles.

Ugh. At 7th overall, for that? No bueno.

Meh, assuming he plays in the top 6 and has some role on the PP, 40 points is probably closer to his floor than his ceiling.

He may not put up Keller/Scheifele/Voracek numbers (or the eye popping plays) but I see no reason he can't put up Okposo/Kadri numbers. Both of them hit 60 points and settled into a nice 50+ point range, which are 1st line numbers.

Personally I think his skill level is underrated.

Nobody picked after him looks significantly better imo. The office identified Petterson as a stand out near our position, tried to get him and couldn't. Given that, I think they did well with Andersson. Mittlestadt was the one people were boohooing over last year but he's not looking all that hot right now either.

Swedish Kadri works for me. If he can become a Kadri-type player I’d be super happy. Love his game.

Plus the whole speaking in certainties about what a player will be while they're barely 20 years old and have 11 career NHL games.

- Logan Couture played junior hockey for 2 years after being drafted
- Kyle Turris started in the AHL in his 2nd season
- Brayden Schenn played junior hockey for 2 years after being drafted
- Nazem Kadri started in the AHL in his 2nd season
- Nino Niederreiter started in the AHL in his 2nd season
- Derick Brassard started in the AHL in his 2nd season
- Bryan Little started in the AHL in his 2nd season
- Mikael Granlund started in the AHL in his 3rd season

Oh man, every time I think to myself that I want to go back to grad school I remember all this stuff and am happy I don't have to do it. Though who knows maybe at some point I'll go back to school for another Masters.

I’m gonna be honest, also have been underwhelmed, mostly because my criticism has been the same for a long time - doesn’t have the puck on his stick enough and doesn’t make enough happen when he does. I’m not convinced he will ever really drive a line at the NHL level, which should be a fair expectation.

He was drafted last year. He just turned 20. I think people expect results a bit too quickly in this case. My earlier post, listing other centers drafted around 7th overall pretty much shows what we should be expecting. Lias playing in the NHL in his D+2 season is actually a step up already compared to the players on that list.

He’s driven lines prior to the NHL.

That’s all I am going to say about that, because I promised myself I wouldn’t keep debating Andersson.

I'll elaborate on this then, being fairly certain you agree with the following:

Lias Andersson has shown time and time again he can adjust to the next level and perform when people expected him to struggle. If you look at his career so far, he has done what is to be expected of a top-10 pick. Whether he played in the J18, J20, SHL, CHL, AHL, U18 internationals, U20 internationals... He has performed. People expected him to struggle at the World Juniors, but he was his country's best player. I don't like to use the WJC as a benchmark because the sample size is so small, but he was a leader on the ice as much as he was on paper.

The NHL is the next step. He turned 20 last month.

My name is Michael, and I endorse this message.

I hope Lias get rewarded for his fine plays at Wolfpack recently with some points in NHL, and good for his confidence.

I know it`s hard sometimes, and it`s always a risk that a prospect don`t turn out as projected - not only in Lias case, but all who are drafted by NHL in the recent years.

I’m sure he’ll get a real shot soon enough. A key injury did that for Chytil, and injuries are part of the game, so it’s only a matter of time.
And with Fogarty now up, the quality of the 4th line is starting to be better, hopefully Zucc can comeback and push someone else down to the 4th line and McLeod out of the lineup
