Damn! How did I not know this show existed? As a big fan of Strike Back, I was really missing some special forces stuff on TV.

That looks intriguing!

I thought the "3" in the title was evoking Season 3 of a series but instead it's what the series is called and we're only in its Season 1.

Fifth episode was released today. Thanks for the heads up.

I didn't know anything about his show either but I'll give it a go for the same reason as you. Also I wouldn't mind getting another Scott and Stonebridge season of Strike Back. What are both these guys doing these days anyway?

In other news... I thought the series Your Honor was a one and done but there's a season 2 coming soon I discovered recently so I'll be checking that out for sure.

I also came across the trailer for this upcoming series that looks somewhat intriguing to me called The Pale Blue Eye.

I've been waiting a bit impatiently for Strike season 5 and I'm quite happy to see it back starting this Sunday.

The ending felt... forced.

Watched Acapulco (2 seasons available). Had a How I met your Mother vibe, with the protagonist narrating his story to his young nephew, about how he started as a lowly employee at this luxurious resort and how he made his way up. It's lighthearted comedy, the acting is superficial and it falls into typical stereotypes. It's brainless entertainment and features this guy "Chad" who bears a resemblance to Kaiden Ghule, which is one of the main reasons that kept me watching. :sarcasm:

XPjWhbn.jpg

Also viewed My Name is Vendetta, a mobster story targeting an enemy who had disappeared from view for 20 years and who had since changed his identity and who lived a quiet family life, until ...

Italian original with subtitles. Story holds up pretty well but it doesn't stray off the path of other similar themed productions. It kept me invested for the most part, so if you like the idea of a revenge theme with brutality included, this delivers.

After watching My Name is Vendetta, I used Netflix's search function for similarly themed movies and went with Dead End. It started off as an interesting storyline but it then it became a series of improbable events and consequences, due to an avalanche of braindead decisionmaking -- which I suppose was badly needed for this low budget affair to restrict its filming to a limited number of locations. Acting was wooden for the most part and in some aspects, it moved achingly slow. Filmed in the Czech Republic (now known as Czechia), so Czech language with subtitles. This guy's daughter was particularly annoying, so I guess she did her job.
Acapulco was a show my wife was asking me to watch with her. I’ll give it a whirl since I don’t mind comedies.

In case you didn‘t know, since I think we started watching the same time but I stuck around for another season (you didn’t miss anything), A Million Little Things got cancelled.

Man, I’d love another season of Scott and Stonebridge. I didn’t mind the new replacements, but Scott and Stonebridge had such great chemistry together. I’d be happy with a made for TV movie or mini-series revivial.

The Pale Blue Eye also looks great. I do enjoy detective genres, though less of a fan of this particular time period. However, most of what Bale does is gold.

The characters in Acapulco are likeable, even if the storyline is thin and narrated in a simple manner. It has its moments and it promises to be better than A Million Little Things (what isn’t?). :sarcasm:

Looking forward to your feedback on Kaiden Guhle aka Chad. Let’s see if he emits that Ghule vibe for you.

What I have found to be great viewing for a couple is The White Lotus. Have you had an opportunity to watch Season 1? Season 2 finale is airing Sunday on HBO.

Both Acapulco and The White Lotus are series based on resort experiences, with The White Lotus being the far better option IMHO.

If the resort theme is appealing to you, saw another series aptly named The Resort, which is based on time travel and features a couple who while on vacation, stumble upon evidence relating to the disappearance of a couple many years before further to a natural disaster.

The resort that the disappeared couple was staying at is now abandoned and they must piece together clues to get to the bottom of the disappearance that others have been unable to crack. Character development is kind of weak and the story tilts toward the fantastical but there is some intrigue. Felt kind of hollow as a storyline.

Five episodes so far with the latest having aired on Dec. 8th.

It’s absolutely gripping. Quite the buildup to Episode 5, which was absolutely riveting.

Checking out what comes up next, the season features 10 episodes, with one episode being released per week until the finale set for Jan. 13th.

Thanks again for the recommendation.

White Lotus is another we were trying to put time to watch.

The Resort is new to me. I’ll have to look into it as the premise sounds interesting though lack of character development is concerning. For me, while a good story is important, if I’m not vested into the characters, it’s hard to get into it.

You’re further ahead than me, LOL! Was too busy binging Wednesday and haven‘t had the time this weekend for Echo 3 but definitely will get to it.

It’s great to have so many options and at the same time, you want to get to the best stuff first. The first season of The White Lotus was amazing, I’d watch it again. It easily towers over Acapulco and The Resort.

Season 1, Episode 6 of The White Lotus features one of the most outrageous scenes I’ve ever experienced from the many series I’ve watched — I can’t believe they came up with what they did and showed it.

Managed to squeeze in this new series,it's only 4 episodes but it was pretty good. It should get another season or 2. Think if you enjoyed Mystery Road, probably like this as well being aboriginal themed.

I was hoping to see something involving Ron Livingston that I might actually like, since his epic movie, Office Space.

And then today, I saw this clip.

Has anyone heard of or watched Loudermilk? I know, awful title but that bit was lifted from a show that has Livingston starring as a recovering alcoholic and substance abuse counselor who has a bad attitude about everything. The show has 3 seasons of 10 episodes each, released in 2017, 2018 and 2020. Show also features the lovable Will Sasso. A 4th season is apparently in the works: Loudermilk Season 4 - What We Know So Far

My first impression after only watching the first episode -- this is what Ron Livingston does best. It's a branching out of sorts from his character in Office Space -- he totally owns the art of not giving a shit.

Cool! they casted actors that have first hand knowledge of the time. lol.

Sure hope it's superior than that Yellowstone, didn't buy it all,had to bail.
Oh.. I quite enjoy Yellowstone TBH, well most of it anyway. The Beth and Jamie stuff is getting quite tiring for me at this point and I could do without that storyline but the cinematography of Yellowstone is just visually fantastic and quite beautiful.

I often find myself pausing some of these beautiful scenic shots for a bit to admire just how beautiful that part of the world really is. The show is worth a watch just for that beauty alone.

I still haven't watched the Yellowstone prequel 1883 yet but I'll eventually get to that at some point and before I watch the 1923 prequel.

It starts slow. Sorry to hear that.

I’m going to stick with it on account of being a fan of Livingston and Sasso.

I'm a fan of both. Love Sasso since his madtv days (was also pretty funny in his short stint on Shameless). Office Space is one of my fav 90's comedies.

IDK, I just couldn't get through it. Some of the stuff Livingston's character does in the first episode is so cringy.

I'll probably circle back to it since there's so very few good comedies nowadays.

I get the appeal for some, but it's not for me. I got the impression it was one of those shows that bridges so much and story-lines that are endless, eventually culminating in an unsatisfactory conclusion. Did not find that the characters are likable and not very authentic, could be the writing, acting or directing.

Sure it's has some dramatic panoramas, but that's not a deciding factor for me when choosing to invest in a show, would prefer to watch some nature show with wildlife or just go and take a drive or take the boat out or even hop on a plane and go somewhere.

Haven't had a chance either to check out 1923,perhaps it will entice me to try Yellowstone again,we'll see.

Yellowstone is OK, the Beth character is wonderfully played but the rest is just watchable, 1883 is on Another level. Must watch.

Yeah I get it isn't for everyone but I still do quite enjoy it for the most part.

I feel very similar about The Wire as you do towards Yellowstone. I tried a few times to get into The Wire, since many people said I would enjoy it, but that show just never appealed to me for some reason despite how highly rated it was and I always gave up during the 1st season. I'll most likely never watch it at this point but we'll see.

The Yellowstone prequel 1923 hasn't started airing yet and will start next Sunday, Dec 18th.

Yeah I'll eventually get to watching 1883. I've saved it for a slow period when there isn't much on to watch.

I also finished the recent Strike: Troubled Blood season last night and quite enjoyed the 4 episodes. Great series and I hope they keep it going for a while yet.

I did read a recent article where the book author said her plan was to write 10 books for the entire Cormoran Strike book series. Troubled Blood was the 5th book released in the series. The 6th book in the series The Ink Black Heart was released in August 2022 so hopefully the TV series will continue after each new book in the series is published going forward.
