Staple, at Athletic, doing features on the top prospects having great season in NA
(so far, Cuylle, Korczak, Garand - to come Othmann, Berard)

anyway, the articles mention 2 very different one-upon-a-time NYR draft picks
Marc Savard is Cuylle's HC, [round 4 #91 overall 1995 NHL Entry Draft
Shaun Clouston is Garand's HC [round 3 #53 overall 1986 NHL Entry Draft - after Leetch, ahead of Janssens and Turcotte

I forgot he passed so young & just clicked his wiki page & randomly one of his photos is during the 1 game he played as an NYR. I was in high school when they got him & barely remember that.
Seems so sad....had all the potential and was a 170 pt scorer his draft year . Sometimes it just not align for some guys .

How come Mathieu Schneider only played two seasons here ? Was it money ...he played for a long time after he left the Rangers...although he did play for a lot of clubs in his career . Was he out of shape when we got him ?

This isn't a guy but y'all remember the entire full season the Rangers had a better goal differential shorthanded with Rick Nash than at even strength with Tanner Glass?

From HockeyDB's (M)Schneider page:
  • 1998-Oct-13 Traded from Toronto Maple Leafs to New York Rangers for Alexander Karpovtsev and round 4 pick in the 1999 draft (Mirko Murovic)
  • 2000-Jun-23 Claimed in expansion draft by Columbus Blue Jackets from New York Rangers

Jeff Ulmer randomly popped into mind.

Also, not a Ranger, but Hakan Loob. "That was loob job!"

Was trading Ulf Dahlen for Gartner worth it ? Dahlen had a great career in the NHL .....but he also moved around a lot it seemed . Played over 900 games .
