Here’s 2 that just popped in my head: Philip McRae and Luke Adam

Last year September, when I was in Helsinki, at the HIFK-Assat game. The guy in white, with no 61 is McRae hahaha. I took a photo of him because I remembered him from Hartford

I loved him his draft year and a few years after, then I forgot about him, then he scored like 10 points over a full season on the Wolfpack

Mike Ridley
Alexander Karpovtsev
Remember them?

I was literally about to post about Brashear. That signing brought my blood pressure through the roof. Watching him as a Ranger I rooted for the opposite player to knock him tf out. Never hated anyone more

I called my season ticket rep and threatened to cancel. If I ever meet Bruce Boudreau I will punch him right in the nose: :"that's for Blair Betts asshole!"

Tomas Sandstrom was one of my favourite Rangers back then. I never saw that guy take a shift off, and I saw him play through quite a few injuries. Got a chance to chat with him at length one time out here after a game against a very good Flames team in which he had two goals. He was a super guy to talk to and told me about he still had to improve his game.
Wow, humility, talent and work ethic. Great combination.

Sandstrom also took a ton of cheap shots playing at a time when there was a clear bias against European players. Swedes especially were considered soft and Tomas was constantly targeted. Plus he wore a face shield during an era when safety was looked down on.

He developed a chippy side to his game which actually made it worse on himself, but he really hit his stride playing with the Great One in LA. If both of those guys were completely healthy during their time in LA, I could've seen Sandstrom scoring 60.

That was my first jersey!! A beast of a shot. I forgot who said it but the quote was along the lines of: Sandstrom does shoot around goalies he shoots through them

He really did generate some serious velocity. To this day, his release is still something I can't figure out how he would do that. The puck was so much closer to his body than most guys when they use their slap shots. Really made it tough for goalies to pick up on because it almost looked like the puck was coming directly out of his skates.

Completely healthy Tomas Sandström is an oxymoron.

To Swedes he will always be remembered for this goal:

My father was in Wien for the tournament, him and his friends took a road trip down from Stockholm in his best friend's Delta Integrale. They were watching the Davis Cup quarterfinals on a miniature television in the backseat during the drive down. A good year in Swedish sports history.

From Stockholm to Wien is quite a trip

It is, and not just for Europeans! I expected it to be "nothing" for an american, but the distance is basically equivalent to NYC-Tampa.

It's a quick flight, but when I visited Wien this summer the trip would've probably been faster by car due to all the airline shenanigans. We ended up having to spend the night at an airport hotel in Warszawa.

You should have told me. We could have met up for a drink
