Special shout out to two former players. George McPhee and Colton Orr. The former's fight with Tocchet in the playoffs was legendary. And the latter's punch against Fedoruk exercised 25 years of frustration at the hands of the Bullies

Ridley and Miller were among the worst trades this franchise ever did. Potsie was a solid third pairing defenseman.

Might have been THE WORST trade in the history of the franchise. It ranks up there with Middleton for Hodge.

Ridley was a PPG player that season, and right when the trade was made, the team was just starting to hit its stride.

All for Bobby freaking Carpenter. Who proceeded to go (28 GP - 2 - 8 - 10 (-11)), before he was shipped out for ageless wonder Marcel Dionne, who albeit wasn't totally awful with the Rangers.

I visited Vienna very long time ago. Few weeks to Christmas is a very good time to visit Vienna again.

I will be in Prague next week Wednesday for the Sparta Prague game vs Mladá Boleslav by the way, if you want to meet up for a drink.

yeah, the other that IMHO comes close was the Matti Norstrom/Ian Laperriere (+ Ferraro, Lafayette) for way-too-late/old Kurri, McSorley and the McLeod-class Shane Churla

more recently, the Eric Staal and Ryan Clowe deals were just huge wastes of picks (+ Saarela)

and while he maybe never showed 1st round impact,
Korpikoski for Lisin has always ticked me off
(smart play by 'Yotes to trade Lisin off such a promising season,
like Tampa trading Conacher for Bishop)

Does anyone remember Dale Weise? I met him in Tilburg, the Netherlands, during the lockout. Great guy!

Yeah. Known for his fisticuffs during his time here. But I remember him doing very well in Montreal. Not sure why they let him go.

Larouche is a good one. I've only had three jerseys in my life: Sandstrom, James Patrick and Leetch.

One of my first memories of watching the game is from 1986 when Larouche came back from exile and went on a goal scoring bonanza. I wore #24 in my playing days as a result.

Used to love James Patrick. An underrated all-around D-man. Will always be disappointed he was gone before '94.

this was really dumb situation too
Sather/Torts were trying to give Avery another shot, so they waived Weise in preseason, and Canucks claimed him.
he'd had a decent (scoreless, but played his game) call-up the prior spring, and a couple good AHL seasons

within weeks, Avery was sent to AHL, and never played NHL again

Anybody mention ole Eddie Johnstone? Mid 70s until the early 80s he played for us.

there was that series of seasons, late 70s/very early 80s,
they brought up a good number of young D prospect guys who then had decent careers, not just high profile guys like Gresch or Captain Dave,
but Laidlaw, Marois, Farrish, McEwen, Hospadar, Kotsopoulos, Dore
