Rizzo still has 1 more year of rightsTrade him then sign him August 15th.
They invited him to camp to get him in on this plan.

Not sure if this was previously reported. The guy's profile says he's an Athletic contributor and amateur scout.
Just inspirational message or does he know something?

Sounds like a threat.
Snatch and run. I’ll take that EK poster/signAll right, fine. If you want something done you have to go do it yourself. I’m going in and coming back with something big.

I don’t want this in any way to happen but imagine a team so deep Chatfield is your 7th.I would be beyond shocked if they moved chatfield. He’s a legit player, even if it’s third pair player, who is performing well above what he’s being paid
if thats what we get, the injury concerns with him and the two seasons before last year make getting a dud just as much of a possibility.I agree with that totally. But wouldn't 3 years of Norris caliber production for 6.9m be exactly that?
Anything is possible but he is on league minimum and played very well. He would have to be carrying serious value inna deal for it to make any sense
I don’t know if Pesce deserves to be in the Canes hof.

And I can't even watch my favorite episode of IASIP anymore because of blackface. Shame on you, HFboards.Mu man, you need to see a dermatologist
Seems a bit dramatic. The cap is very likely about to rise. If they get good retention, as would be expected, it's not likely to be any sort of cap killer and has the potential for tremendous upside. It's a better gamble than, say, Haula, Gardiner, and Dzingel for more combined cap during that five year period at one point. At least it's only one player at a position we can still likely backfill rather well given it's our strength and likely still will be after moving on from Pesce and/or Skjei.I want to confess here, before you all, how much I love talking crap to fans of other teams about their bad contracts and cap mismanagement. I dream of taking the family to Vancouver just so my kids can watch me stand on a street corner and yell to nobody in particular about JT Miller and the OEL debacle until a local gives me a Canadian Dollar to shut up and leave them alone. That is me in my element.
But now I am worried that we're going to become what I despise, if this EK deal goes through. Even at 30% retained its a cap nightmare with sooooo much risk. The complete opposite of how we've run our team for the past 5 years.
I hear you and I know I'm in the minority here. I guess my concern isn't with the specifics of a potential EK acquisition and more with the paradigm shift that such a acquisition suggests is on horizon. I keep talking about our secret sauce - we really have two - cap flexibility and defensive excellence from virtually every position on the ice. And those sauces were basically enough to get us to the promised land last year, were it not for Bob. The risk is in the paradigm shift. In a vacuum, I can come to peace with an EK or TDA acquisition.Seems a bit dramatic. The cap is very likely about to rise. I think we're also enough of a destination that we can get a cheap vet here or there and/or integrate some of our young guys that appear to be ready if we find ourselves in a difficult position with the roster and cap.
I also think any team can survive having one anchor contract. I think it's teams that sign to many of them that end up having to really worry, like San Jose. Given that it seems Aho and Slavin are the likely older players that will get long term contracts here, and they won't likely decline (if they do) until Karlsson is gone, I think we can navigate this pretty well.
Two issues with that. What if the Canes change gears and trade for Logan Couture at 25% retained , who is being rumored as demanding a trade, for Pesce and maybe a plus
Certainly no mention of it on the Sharks board, that I've seen. Been lurking over there for the last week or so.Am I missing where Couture asked for a trade?
Let's wait and see what happens before worrying about a "paradigm shift".I hear you and I know I'm in the minority here.
