Why have something at all when you have made the accomplishment cheap because the criteria is easy?
So you can induct a new class every year and have a night to celebrate it? Which is why it exists. They are going to induct several players worse than Pesce before he’d even be eligible unless they plan on inducting 1 player a year for the next 10 years (they don’t).

I hear you and I know I'm in the minority here. I guess my concern isn't with the specifics of a potential EK acquisition and more with the paradigm shift that such a acquisition suggests is on horizon. I keep talking about our secret sauce - we really have two - cap flexibility and defensive excellence from virtually every position on the ice. And those sauces were basically enough to get us to the promised land last year, were it not for Bob. The risk is in the paradigm shift. In a vacuum, I can come to peace with an EK or TDA acquisition.

I'm guessing that the Borg's true secret sauce is identifying market inefficiencies and tapping into undervalued assets. And so far a really big part of that has been cap flexibility and defensive excellence. But I don't think they're myopic or unnecessarily rigid, either (looking at the attempts to get Tkachuk and Meier). I hope they're optimizing what's possible given the environment at the time. I like that mind set even though I know they aren't going to be right 100% of the time.

Yeah, sorry.

From Vancouver's team, I think most Canes fans are only interested in Pettersson #40 (myself included).

A handful at the deadline were okay getting Boeser though, but I don't think that's the case anymore.
Isn’t the rumour that the Canes are looking to trade Pesce for futures and then use that return in a Karlsson trade? Lekkerimaki would surely fit that bill.

Tbh, I forgot what your original post was. I assumed it focused on a roster player since we've seen so many Vancouver fans make trade proposals trying to dump salaries to us (see JT Miller for example).

Also, I'm not familiar with Lekkerimaki, but I see he was drafted at #15 last year. Certainly has the draft pedigree that San Jose would probably want in exchange for Karlsson.

Am I missing where Couture asked for a trade?
The future of Logan Couture, center for the San Jose Sharks, has been a topic of discussion and speculation in recent times. With four years remaining on his contract, rumors of a potential trade have surfaced, especially considering the Sharks’ current situation and their ongoing efforts to restructure the team. The organization has been steadfast in their commitment to not trading the player and Couture has said he’s not looking to be moved, but analysts, including Jason Gregor of Oilers Nation, seem to think it’s just a matter of time before things change. Gregor writes, “I wonder how long before he asks for a trade.”
Several reports and insiders have mentioned Couture’s name in trade talks

from NHL trade talk.com

you can also see it on Yard barker

and the sharks GM has addressed the rumors, which usually says yes it’s being explored

Yep, I think we just have no idea what teams Pesce would accept a trade to, or San Jose's wants in a trade. From everything I've heard Nashville is looking at moving a first and Fabbro, who we would then include in the EK deal.

Still, who knows if EK goes here instead of Pittsburgh anyway the way San Jose dicked us along and used us as leverage in the Meier talks.

Canes will never get all of their draft picks to suit up for them. "If" it is Rizzo, good for him. He's likely NEVER making the club and would be used down the road in a trade anyways. Used in a trade to get a 40-60pt D. You do that every single day. You know how we always think "Why couldn't we match/do better than that?!?" Well...here we are.
