I gotta say, I was surprised how poor Montreal looked from the get go in this one. They already seem checked out. I was expecting this to be the best game of the series for them, and Price was the only one who looked like they cared. For all the talk that Anderson, Gallagher, Weber, were going to make life hell for us, none of them have been noticeable in this series so far.

Let's end this up tomorrow.
Felt like they came out hard, but a little silly which caused a lot of odd man rushes.

Neither do I.

But I realized at the end of the 1st last night that I wasn't wearing the same jersey that I had for games 2 & 3, so I went upstairs and put it on before the 2nd.

My intellect knows it had absolutely no bearing on the game, all the same, guess what I'm wearing Thursday. :D
I've been wearing the same crappy old Leafs shirt I caught out of the cannon at ACC for the past 3 wins.

No plans to change at the moment....or wash it.

Complete team domination in this one .. Soup did what he had to do .. Gally brought his skill to da table and fought hard all game .. Kerfoot was DA man .. and Brodie is just so d*mn good and completely stabilizes our defense .. Habs are done folks

If we make it far enough and Tavares is able to come back (which I don't expect) and that Kerfoot/galchenyuk/Nylander line continues to play well, we could have some real interesting lineup decisions to make

The Narrative of a typical Habs fan

Before Game 1:
We’re playing with house money and Leafs will choke.

After Game 1:
Wow we look like a contender. We can probably go all the way.

After Game 2:
Don’t be too happy leaf fans, you’re playing the Habs.

Last night;
Trade everyone but Caufield. Leafs will get swept by Jets.

Hyman has not been himself. I would try someone else there.

To be fair I thought that the first few games too... he wasn't his dominant self on the boards and winning battles, it was bouncing off his stick. Last night there was at least a few times where he was in with about 3 habs and battled and won the puck. I remember saying to myself "yep, Hym's is coming back now".

We may have an interesting decision if Foligno is ready on Thurday.

I complain a lot but I absolutely hate the coverage of Price.

Has he been good this playoffs? Yes.
Has he been otherworldly? Absolutely not. Yet the analysis of him is as if he is putting on a goalie clinic.

Price is a starting goalie on a playoff team. The expectations for all starters should be at least good play. Yet Price does that and it's as if it his something to behold. As if a new goaltending level has been reached.

Has Price conquered all odds to be here? Is he ancient? No. He is a goalie on a huge contract which should come with the expectations of good play in the playoffs. He has kept them in games at times with some saves and that should be the minimum for a goalie.

I say do this when Foligno is back:

Foligno - Matthews - Marner
Gally - Kerfoot - Nylander
Mikheyev - Engvall - Hyman
Thornton - Spezza - Simmonds

And when JT comes back

Foligno - Matthews - Marner
Gally - Kerfoot - Nylander
Mikheyev - Tavares - Hyman
Spezza - Engvall - Simmonds

JT wont be 100% at any point in these playoffs, better to give him a defensive role with 2 other defensively responsible wingers if he comes back at all.

So happy we took both on the back to back. I was worried shiatty NHL scheduling was going to give Montreal a better chance as Allen has been sharp. Now after last night, I just wish game 5 was tonight..

Look up the 87 Norris Division Finals.

Takes 4 wins. There's no reason to believe that they won't win the 4th, but they haven't yet.
I remember the 87 division finals too, the Leafs kind of overachieved Clark, Iafrate's slap shot that was the hardest in the NHL, but they did blow a 3-1 lead. The Leafs need to consider game 5 a must win also because Montreal will have the advantage in game 6 with 2,500 fans because Quebec is allowing it. I hope Ontario follows their lead and has fans in Toronto too.

Was thinking the same last night and came up with this as a "start" for the bottom 6

Foligno - Tavares - Spezza
Mik - Engvall - Simmonds

Allen had a better year for Montreal, but if Allen was in I'm guessing we completed the sweep last night. Price gets a lot of praise because he can steal a game, he stole game 1 and with a couple of luck bounces could have stolen game 3. This series would be a blood bath without him.

I probably shouldn't say this but I'm bored with this series already. Maybe it's the summer weather, not sure, but this series just feels so over.

And I know I probably shouldn't be looking ahead either but what the hell, I'm not a player just a dumb fan so I'm entitled to. I can't get excited about WPG, I just can't and I'm thinking about TB already.

I'm a big price is overrated guy but tbh he's been great this series. Stopping all sorts of great chances. Only a couple of the goals that he'd really want back.

Absolute clinic yesterday. Jack is providing a level of tending I never thought imaginable TBH. There were a couple redirections the last 2 games that would have been vintage Freddy whiffs, but Jack just battles so damn hard in the blue. Never takes his eyes off the play and always is in the right spot to let those redirections just hit him. He is playing like a true #1 right now. Extremely confident. If he can sustain this for another 20 games or so, we have a very good shot at going all the way. Yesterday's game was damn near a masterpiece. Skill took over in the second, and then the team just emasculated the Habs in the 3rd. Pretty sure it took MTL 7 mins to even generate a chance that made me gasp. We completely eliminated the middle of the ice for half of that 3rd, which made it nearly impossible for MTL to mount a 3 goal comeback. The formula is very simple for the Habs. Limit the transition chances, and score more than 2 goals. Pretty well guaranteed win if you do that. And they have done just that for 4 games, and only lost 1 because of a earth shattering injury to their captain and all world tending by Price. MTL is dejected. That 3rd period is the proof. Get the first goal or 2 on Thursday and the series is over. I don't think they have the fight to come back from an early goal deficit IMO

This is the thing with Price, his engagement and focus waver throughout the season but his ability and hockey knowledge are still there. When he's dialled in for big games he's a force, but that Habs d-core is so bad and he's made so many great stops in this series already.

Campbell has been just super steady for us, we've been making his life easy with really good defensive play and I love how he makes the easy saves he's supposed to make when we keep shots against to the outside.
