Holl's generally useful in PK and defensive situations by playing his length defending, disruption game but there's diminishing returns by the time you're in crease clearing mode and he's prone to the big error that becomes lethal.

We also need some D who can move and transition the puck. There's no need for both Schenn and Holl.

It's not as if we spend 50 minutes of a 60 minute game on the PK. People are over-blowing this.

Its hockey defense 101 you let them take bad angle shot and you cover the slot. Its not rocket science and Holl found a way to not only mess up that play but also not crosscheck the heck out of Point but trying to play the puck when he is about 2 steps late.

After game 4 giveaway that gave Tampa the lead; he goes to screw up in Game 6 OT and then take a DUMB penalty in Game 7.

Yet this coaching staff is willing to turn a blind eye to his stupid plays. It really grinds my gears

just look at Game 4 giveaway by holl on the 1st goal tampa scores


I've already posted Game 6 and Game 7 stupidity of Holl many times

Part of me feels that we're going to need an unsung hero to step up at some point in the playoffs (maybe against Tampa, maybe later - if we get there)

I'm looking at Bunting. Think he wants to prove it and there's no better time... I see a big goal with his name on it.

Lily will be here next year and Holl probably not, so experience for Lily would be nice. That said Lily hasn’t looked great since the trade deadline imho and Holl seemed to pick his game around then I think. I think I’d start Holl and see how it goes but wouldn’t be afraid to swap them if Holl develops the defensive lapses he’s prone too

Lily has been uncharacteristically fumbling the puck too often lately. Seems like he’s nervous or maybe the trade deadline rattled him. He’ll get back in eventually and he’ll need to be over that to stay in.

One of the biggest Lily fans, but he's looked out of sorts since the trade deadline. I'm sure he'll get in eventually but Holl is the right choice right now. I never thought I would say that lol

I think the biggest difference is that Schenn was probably their third or fourth "physical" defenceman (with less talent than the others), so to balance skill and grit he sat. Here he's our #1 or 2, so he's likely playing every game.

Schenn is needed for clearing the net, but he lacks in skating and clearing the puck sometimes. Reilly can help.

Lily will be the better d man but both him and Holl have made some pretty brain dead plays lately. Holl gets the edge on the PK though and you know thatll be needed with these damn refs. Holl will handle the forecheck better too IMO. Gio hopefully settles down Holl. But as others said it’s a easy swap if required.

Brodie McCabe will be awesome.

Gus is great depth after all that.

Our big four have to show up and we need to get more offensive production from our D.

We have the players to go far.

But as usual the game will be dictated by the refs and it will all come down to which goalie plays better.

We should beat Tampa and I’m not really afraid of any team including the Bruins as imho we match up really well with them.
 
Will Sportsnet Now be streaming all the Leafs playoff games?
My source for watching hockey is sometimes unreliable so looking to find a more reliable way to watch the playoff games. Don't want to pay for multiple services and don't want to run into blackouts or anything ridiculous.

If you are watching it from within Canada, then you can stream it for free on CBC Gem.

I'm a bit worried about Michael Bunting and how he will be officiated these playoffs. Refs have it out for him and every PP we give to them is one too much. Bunting's game isn't as effective without the agitating part and I feel the zebras will target him.

I just don't want the zebras to be a story at all these playoffs. They officiated very poorly last year.

I'm pretty sure you can watch Leafs playoff games for free on the CBC app.

If it stays the way it has been it won't so much be them calling straight up penalties on us putting us short as it will be letting Tampa take penalties on him and creating one for him. It is still absolutely infuriating but better then the other option.
