Honestly, i didn't watch the last game i had work unfortunately. Maybe Andersen was indeed terrible but the last few games there have been some pretty bad giveaways (Marner 4v1 comes to mind) by everyone that have led to losses. Obviously Andersen is not posting elite performance but running him out of town is dangerous. There are no goalies in the pipeline to fill his shoes. Back filling his role by Campbell/Hutchinson is hella risky dont need a recap of last season to prove it.

Best solution is to improve the defence in front and hope we can continue to win some games.

Andersen was fine, one goal was a tip in/deflection right in front of him. Another goal, Matthews screens him and does that half ass block that Don Cherry used to rage about. Don't quite block it, but don't get out of your goalies face either, and ended up kicking it/deflecting it with his skate into our own net. Third goal, Kerfoot turns the puck over in the neutral zone, goes off for a change as Winnipegs charging into our zone. I couldn't believe it, the entire forward group goes for a slow change while Winnipeg charges into our own zone, they set up behind the net, Holl leaves the front to chase Ehlers down low, who centers it to a WIDE open Connor right in front of the net. And then Appleton made a strong play towards the net, that's the only one I feel Andersen should have saved, but if it was one of our guys scoring that we'd be raving about the effort.

They just capitalized on the few chances they had and Helly shut the door in net.

The main issue with trying to get rid of Andy is the lack of replacement as Campbell keeps picking up minor injuries.

I think the leafs will keep him. Run with a tandem perhaps and then make a run at another goalie (trade or UFA) in the summer. Leafs got Andy right before an expansion draft maybe they will get his replacement before one too

I don't think Leafs can afford to pay another goalie 5+mil a year if they want to keep Hyman. I think they just go with a cheap tandem next season and that's that.

I think everyone accepts he is here for the balance of the year. All the sentiment being displayed now is just the laying of groundwork that most don't want him back next year. So Dubas don't be handing out any extensions, thanks.

Go Leafs Go!
Last game had my new Papi hockey sweater, and my Papi doll and he scored 2 goals!!!
Tonight a win would be nice

Not sure how I feel about our chances tonight.
3 shit games in a row. I guess the next 2 games will define what this team really is. Have they turned the corner and are actually a good team or is it one more year of the same old thing.......win when it’s easy but collapse when the games get tougher and the checking gets tighter.
Going to be interest to see how it goes

They dominated the last three games. How were they shit? The score didn't go our way. But I'd take the process over the last 3 games every time.

An .826 SV% on a night where the Leafs dominated the game isn't fine. It's unacceptable. Only saving the shots you should be saving is not good enough.

The fact Dubas offered Markstrom a contract and was all in on Lehner during an offseason where Andersen trade rumours were running rampant tells me everything I need to know.

Must win tonight.

Its the first time this season that I'd say its close to that.

They need to keep the pedal down and show the division who's boss.

These other teams aren't far behind. They need to go on a good run here again.

They haven't been terrible but they need to start getting those timely goals again and put away a team early. Hopefully that's tonight.

Why is our coach playing Freddy again? The fanbase has decided Freddy is the only issue with this team. Are the coaching team holding us back?

While I agree it's not enough, how could he have saved the 2 deflections ? You just have to get lucky and hope they hit you or go wide. Freddy isn't the elite goaltender we want him to be, so it's not fair to hold him to that standard. It's more than just save percentage, the shots that went in were extremely difficult for any goalie to save. I am hoping we move Freddy for an upgrade more than anyone, but to put that game on him is ridiculous. I am holding our forwards accountable. Marner for not scoring in front of the net and then was it Mikheyev ? Who missed that wide open net from like 5 ft out. You bury those chances and it's a different game. This team is built top heavy and, when the forwards get outplayed by an elite goaltender, we end up with losses like that. The effort was great I have 0 complaints, it's one of those Ron Wilson moments except for real. "Ran into a hot goaltender" Game is over lets move on to game 2, just hoping we can come out with the same effort and limit our giveaways/breakdowns. If we play like that every single game, we win 99/100 games, there's gonna be games where elite goaltenders steal the show and that's all it really was.

For what it is worth, Joseph Woll was loaned to the Marlies yesterday so Campbell is likely going to be back by Saturday.

Woll also likely gets into his first game tomorrow night. Finally someone other than D'Agostini.
Well that's definitely a game I'm watching. Haven't really felt like watching any since liljegren and sandin haven't been playing.

The sooner people realize that goalies are supposed to make saves that arent theyre fault, the better.

Its literally the job of the goalie to stop the puck on a defensive breakdown. Thats it. Thats the job. Simply mkaing the save they should make doesnt define a good goalie.
We are literally over 100 years into hockey, and this statement still needs to be explained. Sad stuff.

Frustrating game, Leafs played well and had zone time and point blank chances but got Hellebyucked, then they get one opportunity compared to our many and it goes in. That is part of the game that can be frustrating to say the least and not putting blame on anyone. Two deflections, one by AM reflex (a mind boggler). Our guys played well enough to win but the puck bounces had other plans and that is the just of it. Seen this many times when a team carries the play and the other gets small opportunities with luck on their side with hot goaltending and they win.

In sports the reward master can be cruel at times when the effort is put in but the reward is a loss due to intangibles, but it is a must to keep bringing effort game in and out which then the odds master will reward with wins.
