Beside the andersen one, THE KNOWN FACT ONE that HE*LL BE ONE OF OUR BEST TONIGHT, I'm also expecting big thangs from our Captain Johnny Tavares. :clap: He, will have to also bring his game tonight. Expecting production and a massive cardiac game by that man. Seeing to it also. Now lets wait and then drink.

The game was as it appeared: Toronto controlled but couldn't buy a goal, and every mistake they made the Jets capitalized. The Leafs cut out the brain cramp plays, they roast this team 7 games out of 10 (Hellebucyk would likely steal two, bad puck luck costs the third)

At this point, ride the hot hand. It's a 56 game season, there isn’t really any room to pay your dues just because Andersen has been here for years.

Feel not too long ago that Leafs were desperate for top 4 D but now the D dont even matter. The goalie just has to make all the saves, its simple.

When you outshoot the other team 39-23 and lead in high danger chances for by a 24-6 margin... the Leafs win that game if Andersen doesn't put up an .826 SV%.

Brodie and Bogosian have been better fits and upgrades over Ceci and Barrie while nearly every signing they have made this past offseason has worked out very well. What's Andersen's excuse to play poorly for the second season in a row?

Probably because we got 4 top-4 D now and they're doing their jobs.

Are we not allowed to judge Andersen until we get a time machine and bring back the 2010 Olympic defense in their primes?

Don't you guys ever talk about anything different other then Freddy? I've read the same stuff about him for the past 2 days now. Its not going to change and they sure as hell are not going to start Hutch over Freddy.

Would like to see some lineup changes other then the 4C Postion. Would like to see Lilly get into a game and maybe see Lehtonen in as well, see what we have in them.
 
What time is the game? Which network is airing it? Why do you make me look things up?

This is what I've been thinking. It's not like Campbell is ready to go and Keefe keeping him on the bench over Freddy :laugh:
 
Honestly, i didn't watch the last game i had work unfortunately. Maybe Andersen was indeed terrible but the last few games there have been some pretty bad giveaways (Marner 4v1 comes to mind) by everyone that have led to losses. Obviously Andersen is not posting elite performance but running him out of town is dangerous. There are no goalies in the pipeline to fill his shoes. Back filling his role by Campbell/Hutchinson is hella risky dont need a recap of last season to prove it.

Best solution is to improve the defence in front and hope we can continue to win some games.

The defence has been fine, Andersen for 2 of the last 3 games has not been. Running Andersen out of town is dangerous, running WITH Andersen in net and hoping he figures it out and also doesn't suck in the playoffs is also dangerous. Nobody wins here.

We need to make this the turning point. Also nobody likes losing to the advanced stat nerd fan jets.

Nobody cares how the puck hit off the stanchion on a sunday at 7:35 nerd. Just watch the game.

Did I see Agostino is in the lineup tonight????

been hoping he gets his chance. He’s been a great soldier for the past couple of years.

Pulling for him to do well. He will be flying.

Yeah, it's weird. Other teams have defensive breakdowns too... Their goalie just saves them more often.

Let's see if we can find any reasons to hope, I can think of two:

1)
Last season he wasn't good in the regular season but he was much better in the playoffs. Some people blame him for our failure against CLB which to me is insane. He put up a .936 SV% last season so is it unthinkable that he could put up say .920+ this time around? I'm not optimistic but it could happen.

2)
I just looked up his game by game stats, here's a link. In the 8 games ending with his stellar .963 performance against EDM he was playing great and his poor start to the season was a distant memory. He's only played twice since then, can we really be certain that he won't get it together again?

It's more than just his percentage numbers for me, just watching him he doesn't look confident or comfortable in net. He looks especially slow on second chances and rarely makes that big save. I think a lot of fans are reacting to how well Helly played and are trying to compare Freddy to that, which is not fair. Helly is a vezina winner and top 3 goalie, I'd love for Freddy to be that good but it's also a bit unreasonable. It's like oh look Winnipegs goalie stole the game why couldn't ours do that ? When the question should be other than Matthews, why didn't our top players bury their chances ? Why didn't Marner score on that shot point blank ? Surely he could've placed it better. Freddy does need to be better, but our star players also need to be our star players if we want to win. Helly > Our star forwards last game, and that's why we lost. Not Andersen. He made the saves he should have, but he didn't bail out the D when they needed it either.

I do believe it's time to explore other options in net, I wish Freddy the best and as long as he's with us I hope he performs well, I've just lost faith in him to be a good consistent starting goalie in this league.

I cannot wait until Muzzin heals and gets rid of that intrusive, vision impeding face shield.

We really need him playing at a 100% hope he heals very soon.
 
The main issue with trying to get rid of Andy is the lack of replacement as Campbell keeps picking up minor injuries.

I think the leafs will keep him. Run with a tandem perhaps and then make a run at another goalie (trade or UFA) in the summer. Leafs got Andy right before an expansion draft maybe they will get his replacement before one too
