People on this thread for tonight's game:

iu

Clearly this isn't for Mr. Andersen

;)

Or you know, handle line changes during play like professionals not amateurs and don't kick any goals into our own net, that would have sufficed in the last game anyway.
every other team is able to have multiple defensive breakdowns in a game that don't lead to an automatic goal against, including the Leafs with different goalies in net. It's just not an excuse after so many games of the same thing

There are no automatic goals, chill.

Freddie makes saves every game so chill.

Matthews is a great player but he looked like a total idiot on that Morissey goal. Jesus Christ, what was he doing?

LOL indeed. I can laugh about it cause you know, it's Matthews, he obviously gets a pass and I'm sure it won't happen again but that was possibly the biggest WTF moment of the season so far.

This is a .903 SV% goalie at the end of the day (this season anyway), how he's getting so much blind defense I have no idea.

Man there is just no way in hell we should have lost that game in regulation

Just come out with the same energy and effort as last game and we should win. I don't know if Helly can repeat what he did last game. Not too worried about our guys everyone looked good last game, there was some breakdowns but nothing too too concerning. My biggest worry is Helly being a brick wall again, we need to find a way to beat him. Get bodies in front of him, make him work to make saves, no clear shots and just harass him in front of the net and make it a difficult night for him. We could really use a guy like Simmonds right now.

I'd like this post 100 times if I could, it sums up so perfectly the Freddie hate which has reached epic proportions. Even Phaneuf didn't get it this bad, some Leaf fans are becoming parodies of themselves.
:laugh::laugh:

I don't blame Freddy for last game, but for the season ? Yes he deserves a lot of the blame, he has been absolutely awful for the past 2 years now. Imagine where this team would be with a competent goaltender. I know we're doing well in the standings but you look at the close games and the games we lost, Freddy played a major part.

I'm glad you don't blame him for the last game and I agree he has been pretty bad since the beginning of last season. But he is our guy, he's not losing on purpose so as long as he's on our team I will support him and hope he turns it around.

Let's see if we can find any reasons to hope, I can think of two:

1)
Last season he wasn't good in the regular season but he was much better in the playoffs. Some people blame him for our failure against CLB which to me is insane. He put up a .936 SV% last season so is it unthinkable that he could put up say .920+ this time around? I'm not optimistic but it could happen.

2)
I just looked up his game by game stats, here's a link. In the 8 games ending with his stellar .963 performance against EDM he was playing great and his poor start to the season was a distant memory. He's only played twice since then, can we really be certain that he won't get it together again?

I wouldn't call it hate. It's frustration that has been building for years. Most fans would acknowledge that he's a bonafide number one NHL goaltender, but he consistently falters under pressure.

I don't see how anyone who's been following this team the last few years can be overly confident going into a playoff series against any opponent with Freddy as the starter.

I would love for him to make me eat my words.

The one telling stat missing: # of Terrible Turnovers (that directly or indirectly led to a goal). I counted 4 for Toronto, coincidentally the same number of goals Winnipeg scored.

The game was as it appeared: Toronto controlled but couldn't buy a goal, and every mistake they made the Jets capitalized. The Leafs cut out the brain cramp plays, they roast this team 7 games out of 10 (Hellebucyk would likely steal two, bad puck luck costs the third)
