Post-Game Talk: Leafs vs. Coyotes - Leading the League in Moral Victories

Kadri has been good.
If you expect him to be a Toews/Crosby/Stamkos etc. you are going to have a painfully long season.
If you accept that he is a solid top 6 player with zero forward help beyond JVR you will realize we are rebuilding.

Exactly this

At 7th overall, that is good value

He was better in the first game. Was uneven in this one, had some bad shifts.

The only time I actually like Holland is when he's got the puck under control and with some time. He might very well be a healthy scratch again when Bozak comes back.

Ya quite possibly, I like Holland as well, great interview, but he hasn't shown anything so far this season (small sample size be damned). Truthfully I can see the Leafs trying to shed as much weight as possible and Holland might be on the cutting block if a team gets into injury trouble (as we did when we acquired him).

I see Babcock riding players like Froese, Hunwick, Komorov, Winnik, because of their work ethic... In that same respect I'm sure he'd like Carrick as well.. The log jam will eventually need to clear, its only a matter of time. Can't have 4-5 rookies start next year.

I like the kid but he isn't doing anything right now. He was benched yet again

The kid has tools but no tool box at the moment

I agree with ya.

Very well put.

whats so good about holland, his size is good, but he doesnt skate that well, isnt that fast, not the best stick handler, passing is so so, vision and iq looks average at best, and that shot is horrible...top it all off he doesnt work overly hard and isnt physical

A big part of playing short handed is goaltending, and right now we have this

That might be an improvement. :sarcasm:

Sure does. Babs said post game Froese will be staying with the team. Looks like once Spaling and Bozak are back, Holland and Arcobello have lost their spots to Froese.

Really eh? I didn't watch the post game (or the 3rd period). Good on him if true, hard work needs to be rewarded, and at 24 hes a good age to break into the league.

Kadri has been good, I like him.

But he has to WIN these games. Win the rookie domi at the ACC. First line center kadri... for the maple leafs at the acc.... and domi comes in and wins. That is very embarrassing for him (kadri.) He was very pissed after the first period for a reason.

He is good yeah, but he should WIN these games.

This has to be a parody account. Most of your posts read as jokes.

You said in a previous post that good players win games like these (something like that, anyways). Pittsburgh has played a bunch of games "like this" so far this season. Neither Malkin or Crosby have been able to "win" those games. You know who has, Phil Kessel. I'm assuming you consider Crosby and Malkin "not great players".

Please keep posting. I always enjoy reading good comedy.

Judging from the quality of posts it seems to be.

Well, I didn't either, but I read the quotes on twitter. Hopefully if nothing else this pushes Holland to take the next step and finally put it together.

Better than Carlyle's awful possession teams that would always choke and the games were boring as hell.

You mean the season we got in the playoffs and led the league in fights was boring to you?

We sir, are not going to get along ;)

3-4 top Corsi teams miss the playoffs every year. I don't get too excited about it.

The talent isn't there.

Folks will say we are losing the right way now but let's be honest, the results won't change until the talent does.

When it does Babcock will keep the same system and folks will say see? I told you this system was good. Playing Keep Away works.

But it will be the talent improvement that will drive the standings improvement.

The system is the constant. If results vary, it always was and always will be about the variable that is talent.

Heading for 4th overall like Ron Wilson's 2009-2010 playoff missing team?

Yay CF%!

Positive development is positive.

If we end up a top possession team with awful goaltending and special teams, then that is at least better than being an awful possession team with awful goaltending and special teams.

You'd never see a post like that if we switched subject from possession to goaltending or penalty killing.

It's good to hear that players are being rewarded. The Marlies will definitely miss him.

Waiving both would really send a message.

Kadri isn't the only part on this team.
And he did his part. But sure not winning is all his fault.

There are 18 others on this team. Kadri doesn't play every position

Habs fan here, I think it's the first time I see a Leafs game without the taint of Habs 'homerism'

I want to say this without pissing off everyone and meh ... it's my 2 cents but this is my opinion.

Your team has 0 momentum, you guys can't generate it for more than a few pushes, the crowd doesn't maintain it, your coach desperately tries to create it ... but at the end of the day, the Leafs are crap because the fundamental internal energy that drives any team is completely absent. Last year this team went through good runs when I felt it wanted to say 'FU' to it's booing fanbase, provocative media and wobbly management.

We went through this ... those years where Craig Rivet acted like he thought he was directed to the HOF, when Patrick Poulin and Craig Darby were on the Powerplay and the best we had on offense was Martin Rucinsky, Oleg Petrov and ... Dainius Zubrus ...

So we sucked balls ...

What solved it ? Literally nothing, nothing solved it ... We booed Brisebois to the point of Arrhythmia, we booed ... well heck we even booed Price not so long ago ...

We had false herrings, Komisarek, Higgins, Marcel Hossa, Kostitsyn's etc ... etc .... the list goes on and on and on ...

Eventually as a fan base, you stop believing the hype and understand that ... well ... it's a ladder and it's a long climb to 'legit Good'

But the road to 'Legit Good' is paved in aweful teams, teams you thought were great ... but no, actually suck ...

And then one day you wake up and say. Well ****, it all turned out fine !

You guys will have your Kovalev's your Kostitsyns your Chad Kilgers who looks good for 5 games and give you hope all to thoroughly destroy them.

But then one day you'll wake up and have a Cup team ... I'm not saying us Habs fans are there, I have no friggin clue, but one day you guys will be there and laugh at this crap ...

And you guys will be the number 1 reason why, because you'll have a great team to cheer for

My 2 cents ...

I really hope the Habs go on a big losing streak so Hab fans stop going to other teams boards and telling them whats wrong with their teams.

It's not just us they're doing it to.

I don't want to become the Edmonton Oilers. We need a top end defensemen in our prospect pool asap. Rielly will be great but I'm not sure he is not in the same mold as Doughty, Subban, Weber, etc. I don't think Rielly will ever be a #1 guy.

two out of the three guys you just listed were drafted in the 2nd round.

D-men are harder to predict and it's a lot harder getting a #1C later in the draft than it is a franchise D-man.

I would love chychrun, but it's not like we are going to go from terrible to a playoff team, we may not be bottom 5 next season but I will assume we will be bottom 10 again even with Mathews.

at least two more poor seasons left to go imo(this one really bad, the next one better but still not there) so we will be getting at least two more top 10 prospects imo.
