Positive development is positive.

If we end up a top possession team with awful goaltending and special teams, then that is at least better than being an awful possession team with awful goaltending and special teams.

You'd never see a post like that if we switched subject from possession to goaltending or penalty killing.

See my post above about talent.

System isn't getting us any results now. Goaltending needs improvement. PP and PK need improvement.

That's all about upgrading talent.

The results will come when our talent improves. Folks will point to the system... the same one that got us a point. The real improvements come not from playing the system but from better players playing the (or any) system.

Talent + effort + strategy. You need 'EM all.

I really hope the Habs go on a big losing streak so Hab fans stop going to other teams boards and telling them whats wrong with their teams.

It's not just us they're doing it to.
Meh they will fail in playoffs again.

I wouldn't worry about it

Uh Oh, Babcock hated on Reimer, people gonna be bashing Babs!!

Babcock not pleased with goaltending: "You can’t give up 4...on the chances we gave up tonight. It’s impossible. You just can’t do that."

Kadri isn't the only part on this team.
And he did his part. But sure not winning is all his fault.

There are 18 others on this team. Kadri doesn't play every position

No, you're wrong. Kadri is a "noob" and HE has to win games like these. Hopefully Babcock realizes this. It won't be long before we see Kadri playing centre in full goalie equipment.

I'm not happy with the play of:

Arcobello, PAP, Boyes, and Grabner

I would bring up: Carrick, Leivo, Frattin, and Clune to replace them.

It's going to be a long year without much going on. Last year was all about the toxic story lines and juicy meltdowns, but this is one of those building years where they're changing the pH level and basically waiting for the deadline and draft. If this was NHL 16, you're basically simming to next date kind of thing. 90% of the personnel here doesn't matter one bit. PAP, Arcobello, Boyes, Grabner are all guys you trade for 4th round picks in NHL 16...

Oh oh it's happened. Those are some pretty big words by Babcock even though he is right.
This won't go well with some.

Sure. You need 'em all, I agree with that. But there's no reason to mock it when you have one part of the whole working well, as you did.

That's quite a bit worse than the "He was OK" comment. Babcock doesn't mince words.

Kadri won't be a Leaf much longer.

Don't even question it.

Any opinions on Shawn Matthias? I kinda liked him when he was with Florida, but again I haven't seen enough games to judge him. He scored a nice one tonight.

Can we keep up Kadri/JVR/Reilly/Healthy Gardiner/Phaneuf/Komarov and replace the rest of these losers with our AHL team? They'd probably be better at this point lol.

Also, what are we doing with Reimer. Obviously the guy has no future here, go and give another goalie a chance even if it means signing some young/random one from Europe.

Lot of people ripping on Kadri in the GDT despite him looking quite good. Finished the night with two assists and over 20 mins of ice time. :dunno:

I just don't get it.

Kadri played an very good game, better as the game went on & he earned his extra ice, good for him.

Rielly, another very good game, really picked up his offensive side in the 3rd.

Harrington played like a top 4 & played over 18 mins.

JVR was much more feisty than normal.

Mathias, finally scored & I think it was probably his best regular season game.

Leafs **** the bed for about 13 mins in the 2nd after the 3-1 goal, but really came back in the 3rd.

Good analogy. This season is so relaxing because we can watch games and not get stressed out. This is why I can't understand any severe negativity on this board, unless it's during the game. Some people are so upset at things that really don't mean much at this point.

 I am waiting for it.
I still can remember everyone blowing a blood vessel when Carlyle said the goaltending was "just okay."

That's quite a bit worse than the "He was OK" comment. Babcock doesn't mince words.

but still not to the level of "Howard was garbage."

not to say that i want anyone to call anyone garbage or whatever, but it will be interesting to see what will happen if the goalie (either Bernier or Reimer) lays a total egg on really stoppable shots, and Babs lays a strip into them.

but i said it in the gdt... you can sort of hear the frustration. i wonder when Babs is gonna blow.

It's incredible to me that you're trying to deflect criticism against a team with nearly the worst record.

Shots are great but wins and losses are infinitely more important significant, statistically.

If shot numbers are all you have to hang your hat on, then it's going to be a long and ultimately disappointing year.

I know shots are the fad right now but it won't be long before the blog stats are pushed away in favor of new ones.

Patience...

Nothing you are ranting about have anything to do with what I was talking about. Good going.

I don't think so.

last year felt horrendously long. even with all the crap. you just wanted it to end, it was so incredibly draining.

i don't think this year will be that "Long feeling" at all.
