I don't know how people can say defensive breakdowns. When in reality it's the special teams are down right trash right now

At even strength we are fine

Grabner has been a better player this season than Kessel.

Kessel has made pittsburgh even worse. They are not doing it right anymore. They lose games and do awful things. Kessel doesn't make others better like crosby and malkin do. Kessel makes others worse, he can't even play defense at all.

Grabner isn't on the same level as Kessel.
And Kessel didn't make them worse, Pittsburgh has had something wrong with them for a few seasons now. Their D isn't good and they seriously lack depth beyond Crosby/Malkin/Kessel. Perhaps as a team they've grown stale and you can't out score your problems.

In the end it's the guys that you really expect to be part of the solution that stood out in a good way.

Rielly is just looking great. Guy is moving into what he can be and it looks great. Kadri had some good moments.

Long season, but some good things in there.

Interesting points.

Rookie Max Domi playing a better overall game than veteran Nazem Kadri tonight...

Phil Kessel being a drain on the Penguins since day one...

Weird how some people can't accept what's right in front of them at face value...

Oh, Kessel is a problem.

He knows it, bozak knows it, carly knows it, I know it and us fans know it. He is LOSER hockey player for life. Makes others worse too while at it. Seen it happen. Proof evidence.

Lol. Than how come Pens board says he is fine

Sorry but your wrong again
Kessel is a real good player who we had to move.

Lol Grabner is terribad

Rielly was just unbelievable today. He's going to be amazing.

Naz was also great again.

JVR was also prettt good. I've been really impressed by. him this season. I was very critical of him in the past, but he's pretty much addressed all the concerns and. criticisms I had about him.

For reference, our CF% for this game was 61.76 and our FF% was 60.26.

I concur, I wonder what would have happened if Babcock had a crack ay K----l and let Dion go instead...

I think it was for the best you let Kessel go, sort of how it was for the best that the Sens traded Spezza. I love Kapanen, he was a good acquisition in the trade. How's Harrington been? Didn't really notice him tonight.

It's good to have kessel there then. :biglaugh:

He'll make the worst plays of the year again. Defensively and... he also doesn't shoot the puck anymore enough. I've seen pens play this season a lot. Kessel plays it wrong there. Can't score enough anymore... I laugh. And laugh. And know hockey.

Our team is better now without that horrible defensive player. We have good personel. Kadri needs to be better though, show babcock that you truly are a first line center of the maple leafs.

Seems like Babcock may have some trust in Froese. 16 minutes, more than Arcobello and Holland. Guy also killed it in the dot. I won't lie and say I watched the entire game (only half) but from what I've seen, I want to see more of him

Agreed. Leafs have a league high 9 GA while short handed. And we've only allowed 26 goals this season total. That means 35% of our goals against have come as a result of a poor PK.

Technically I'm the only one saying defensive breakdowns.

Everyone else is too busy throwing tomatoes at our goalies.

Special Teams is also a big issue too. That's what happens when you have Hunwick and Marincin on there though.

He was better in the first game. Was uneven in this one, had some bad shifts.

The only time I actually like Holland is when he's got the puck under control and with some time. He might very well be a healthy scratch again when Bozak comes back.

Sure does. Babs said post game Froese will be staying with the team. Looks like once Spaling and Bozak are back, Holland and Arcobello have lost their spots to Froese.

Heading for 4th overall like Ron Wilson's 2009-2010 playoff missing team?

Yay CF%!

I'm done for tonight. I can only take so much unnecessary Leafs hate in one day.

Carry on.

A big part of playing short handed is goaltending, and right now we have this

Kadri has been good.
If you expect him to be a Toews/Crosby/Stamkos etc. you are going to have a painfully long season.
If you accept that he is a solid top 6 player with zero forward help beyond JVR you will realize we are rebuilding.
