Kessel?

Hahahahahahahaha!

I never said Kessel has to go.
I said you cant have both Kessel and Phaneuf on the same team making as much as they currently are. I actually really like Kessel as a player but you cant be paying as much money as you are for these 2 when both have serious flaws. I would obviously get rid of Phaneuf fairly easily but how many teams will take him on and exactly what are you going to get.

Would you rather the guy who is 2nd in league scoring or a low end #1 D with severe inability to think the game? Sounds like an easy choice.

Here is a bright idea...Instead of trading one of the 2 best players on the team because of their contracts, why not just forget about signing guys like Kulemin who despite being great defensively, still have no effect on the overall defensive play of the Leafs. The Leafs need to start letting guys go that might be considered the secondary core. Keep Bolland and Gardiner but replace Franson, Kulemin, Reimer, etc. The guys we get rid of can be replaced by Holland, D'Amigo, Percy, Granberg and Ashton if we give them a chance in the lineup. There's no problem with signing core guys to big money deals. The problem is when you sign secondary guys to similar deals (Clarkson) when they aren't essential with the success of the team.

Well Carlyle is going to rip into them during that 1st intermission, c'mon guys... I don't wanna see that "team" we saw in the first. You guys can win this, get your **** together! 2nd line is the only line that's done anything (and they still haven't done much).

C'mon guys! GLG!

49 million bucks, how much of that do we have to eat? His best years are behind him. Worst move Nonis has made so far, we'll may even 2nd worse. Clarkson 5.25:laugh:

The perfect way to put this game:

Canada's Paralympic hockey team (Leafs) vs Canada's hockey team (Blues).

St. Louis Blues...have some respect for the disabled. Instead of going for 70 shots...let's bring that down to 50.

hey paralympic hockey is different from olympic hockey.

also, lets not disrespect the good athletes at the paralympics by comparing them to the Laffs.

What looked better or more successful that period a big physical cycle possession team or a small rush team?

You can see why Leafs management needs to change the team personnel.

I don't think you have to choose. We can keep the first line and put it in a position to succeed, and build three lines to complement it that can both maintain puck possession as well as actually defend against cycling teams.

does anyone think it's time that Lupul be put back on the top line instead of JVR? who's been useless lately. Lupul and Kessel had some great chemistry last year and Lupul seems to be one of the few scoring anymore. he deserves a shot on the top line.

 Disrespect for the Challenged! They would play with a lot more heart! :highclap:

Am I a Reimer fanboy?

you're not going to find any logic in this. if the goaltenders were reversed and the score / shots against the same - reimer would be ripped a new hole over allowing a weak goal in the dying seconds of the period, regardless of the clusterfu-- that phaneuf pulled.

that's just the way some roll.

in a few years, bernier will have the reimer treatment and the cycle will continue :p

beside that .. what the hell are the leafs doing?

I'm sure that Paralympic team plays with more heart and effort than anyone on the Leafs except Bernier.

I wasn't saying I wanted Phaneuf gone, I was answering under an "If I must choose" presumption. Of course Clarktard's contract is cancerous.

EDIT: Apparently my reading comprehension skills are terrible  sorry.

If Phaneuf "steps up" you can guarantee it will be on small guys like Sobotka and Oshie. He almost NEVER goes for big hits on bigger guys. Just doesn't have it, and neither does this team.
