IMO, Matthews is not elite defensively.

Bergeron is and rightfully so.

Daily face-off has Campbell confirmed starter. This is the primary site used for fantasy hockey to determine who starts each game. They are almost never wrong.

We are also not going to win with the just under 4 GAA we have had over the last 7 games either. There is not a single team in the NHL right now who would be able to outscore the holes Andersen has been putting us in. But yes, let's blame our "poor offense" who has been dominating the other team's offense for most of these past few losses. Even while they are going through a colder stretch (which happens to literally every team in literally every season), we've still scored enough to be able to win more than 1 game in this past 7 game stretch because our defense has been good enough to make up for the fact that we only are getting 2.57 goals per game right now. Our goaltending has not.

I keep saying it over and over, I totally agree with Andersen sucking and I always wanted Campbell as our starter. However for example in yesterdays game, Marner ties the score early in the second and after that no more scoring for the entire 2nd and 3rd periods, one simple goal would have tied the game. The offense is poor compared to how rich it was before these 7 games. They can dominate all they want, but that won't get them any points. Remember that they are losing to the bottom of the league teams.

4 pts in 8 games isnt anywhere close to elite.

He needs to either start scoring or start setting up goals. Being good in his own zone but not producing isn't his role

Picture it, you are on the Leafs. You just battled through the dirty areas, took 2 cross checks in the back, got pasted into the boards maybe even a high stick in the slot. You just spat out a tooth, but its ok, because you lifted one high glove and you are up 1-0. You try a pass to a teamate, it gets intercepted, bam, its in the net. Your goaltender just let in a goal on his 5th shot against.

How eager are you to go lose another tooth when your goaltender isnt doing his job?

I would love to know over the last 2 years how many times Andersen has made it to 10 shots before letting one in.
That will be an eye opening stat, I guarantee it.

If any Leafs player did this more than once a season, I would be ecstatic.

Only 7 up on the 6th place Flames, if they win tonight they'll be 5 back with 2 games against Ottawa coming up. If things go terribly wrong for us the flames will be 1 point back by Wednesday night lol

Depends on if Campbell makes an attempt to stop the deflection or not. Noone is mad at Andersen for allowing tipped shots. They are mad because on every tipped shot he doesn't even move from his original blocking position to try and stop it.

Campbell hasn't played in over a month, he will probably be rusty and deserves a mulligan if he allows any soft goals. If this continues then he deserves to be criticized just like Andersen has been.
